00:00President Donald Trump on Tuesday unleashed another fiery attack

00:29on Somalian Americans, not making any distinction between citizens and non-citizens.

00:36In his remarks to the press, Trump once again reiterated his vow to send Somalis back to

00:43where they came from. The president claimed Somalis contributed nothing and did nothing

00:48other than complain about the US. He then roared, I don't want them in our country.

00:54Taking his agag further, Trump even labeled Somalian immigrants as garbage, warning,

01:00we are going to go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country.

01:05His attack on the Somalian migrant community soon turned personal as he berated Democratic

01:11Congresswoman Ilhan Omar who migrated to America with her family after escaping Somalia's civil

01:17war in 1995. Trump slammed Omar, a longtime critic, saying Ilhan Omar is garbage, her

01:25friends are garbage. Let them go back to where they came from and fix it.

01:29We could go one way or the other and we're going to go the wrong way if we keep taking

01:34in garbage into our country. Ilhan Omar is garbage. She's garbage. Her friends are garbage.

01:42These are people that work. These are people that say, let's go. Come on, let's make this

01:46place great. These are people that do nothing but complain. They complain. And from where they

01:52came from, they got nothing. You know, they came from paradise and they said, this isn't

01:58paradise. But when they come from hell and they complain and do nothing but bitch, we don't

02:07want them in our country. Let them go back to where they came from and fix it.

02:13Ilhan Omar currently represents a congressional district in Minnesota, home to one of the largest

02:19Somalian diaspora communities in the US. Omar was quick to hit back with a brief but pointed

02:25post on social media writing, his obsession with me is creepy. I hope he gets the help he

02:31desperately needs. This is not the first time Trump has targeted the Somalian immigrant community.

02:37But what explains this renewed attack? Trump's latest comments follow his anti-Somalian steps

02:43from last week when he ended legal protections against deportation for Somalis.

02:49protections that had been in place since 1991. In a social media post, Trump vowed to send

02:56Somalians back to where they came from and alleged that Minnesota had become a hub of fraudulent

03:02money laundering activity. His post was followed by unsubstantiated reports claiming that nearly

03:08$1 billion was being stolen from Minnesota's Social Security-linked funds and rooted to Al-Shabaab,

03:15an Al-Qaeda-linked militant group controlling parts of Somalia. Trump's moves have triggered fear in the

03:22state's deeply rooted immigrant community and drawn fierce pushback from state leaders. Apart from

03:28Congresswoman Omar, Mayor Jacob Frey called Trump's message wrong and said Somalian immigrants have

03:35helped improve the state. Frey also announced that the city would not cooperate with Trump-sent ICE

03:41agents and even switch to speaking in Somali to show solidarity with the community.

03:46That's not American. That's not what we are about. And we're going to do right by every single person

03:55in our cities. And so, to our Somali community.
