00:00The Marvel Cinematic Universe gets more and more complex with each passing year.
00:04Introducing so many new characters and storylines, it is inevitable certain narrative threads will fall by the wayside.
00:10I'm Emil from WhatCulture and these are 10 MCU Loose Ends That Drive Fans Crazy.
00:16Number 10. What Happened to the Stolen Pym Particles?
00:20One of the MCU's most notorious loose ends revolves around a seemingly major plot development in the first Ant-Man movie that was strangely ignored.
00:28Towards the end of that 2015 MCU entry, Hydra agent Mitch Carson runs off with a vial of precious Pym Particles,
00:35implying that he and the rest of his shady organisation will go on to use that technology for untold nefarious deeds.
00:41Almost seven years later, those deeds have yet to materialise and Carson himself has been completely MIA.
00:48Interestingly, a deleted scene from Ant-Man would have seen Paul Rudd's titular hero confronting Carson and swiping back the stolen goods,
00:54but this was removed with the sole intent of leaving the particles out there.
00:58Will Ant-Man 3 provide some answers? We sure hope so.
01:02Number 9. Where did Valkyrie get her Pegasus from?
01:05The final battle in Avengers Endgame contains a couple of small mistakes that are difficult to unsee once you spot them.
01:10And while this isn't a mistake per se, it is a detail many fans nonetheless question.
01:15When the Asgardians emerged from one of Doctor Strange's portals at the start of the battle,
01:19it was shown that Valkyrie is riding a majestic Pegasus, which she then uses for the duration of the sequence.
01:24It was insanely cool to see, mind you, but it did leave many fans wondering, where did she get it from?
01:30She didn't have it during Thor Ragnarok, and considering that Asgard was destroyed at the end of that movie,
01:35along with a good chunk of the population, she can't just stop by the Pegasus shop and pick up a new one.
01:40Perhaps she acquired it during Endgame's five-year time jump,
01:42but when we first visit New Asgard after this time jump, there are no Pegasuses.
01:47Wait, what is that? Pegasi?
01:48There's none.
01:49One possible explanation is that the remaining Asgardians knew how to breed these creatures,
01:54but considering that a firm explanation was never provided on screen, all fans can do is speculate.
02:01Number 8. Did Matt Gargan ever try and find Spider-Man?
02:04One of the sub-villains in Spider-Man Homecoming was Matt Gargan,
02:07who in the comics is known by his supervillain alter-ego, the Scorpion.
02:11This Scorpion factor led many fans to believe Homecoming was setting Gargan up as the main villain in a future Spidey movie,
02:17an idea that was backed up by the mid-credits scene, which showed he's hell-bent on making the web-slinger pay.
02:22But not only have neither of these story paths been utilised in Far From Home or No Way Home,
02:27Gargan himself has been completely abandoned,
02:29with that prison-set mid-credits scene remaining his last appearance in the MCU.
02:33So what did Gargan get up to next?
02:35Did he break out of prison to find Spidey himself, or did he use his boys on the outside to do the dirty work for him?
02:40Is he still languishing behind bars, or maybe he escaped in the aftermath of the snap?
02:44That mid-credits scene made it seem like the filmmakers had a plan for Gargan,
02:48but it's been almost five years since Homecoming released, and the villain is yet to make a move.
02:53Frankly, that's a waste of a perfectly good Michael Mando.
02:57Seven. What happened to the leader?
02:59Despite its standing out as one of the MCU's formative stories,
03:02The Incredible Hulk is a movie a lot of people overlook when discussing the franchise.
03:06Though its reputation as a black sheep has improved in recent years thanks to characters like Thaddeus Ross
03:11and Abomination being brought back into the fold, the movie has never fully shaken that reputation.
03:15The recasting of Edward Norton, the redesign of Hulk, and the fact a different studio owns the distribution rights
03:20certainly haven't done it any favours.
03:22Aside from those aforementioned characters being reintroduced,
03:25it's also true The Incredible Hulk is largely irrelevant in terms of the ongoing MCU narrative.
03:30Nothing about it has ever been followed upon, including this whopper of a loose end.
03:35It's been 14 real-world years since a cut on Dr. Samuel Stearns' forehead was infected with Bruce Banner's blood,
03:41causing his head to bubble and mutate, and we're still no closer to finding out what happens next.
03:46Stearns has featured in some MCU comics since then, but as far as on-screen resolutions go,
03:51we haven't got one.
03:52And if the upcoming She-Hulk doesn't deliver, we probably never will.
03:55Sorry Samuel, it's back into MCU daycare.
03:596. What's the state of Xandar?
04:01Xandar was introduced in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie as the capital of the Nova Empire,
04:07which is basically the space police.
04:09Xandar ended that flick in a bit of a sorry state after serving as a battleground for Ronan and his forces,
04:13but the planet did survive, and the end of the movie shows us that things have more or less returned to normal for the Xandarians.
04:20Flash forward to Avengers Infinity War, however, and poor old Xandar has received yet another battering,
04:25this time at the hands of Thanos.
04:27The movie mentions the not-so-jolly purple giant decimated Xandar and took the Power Stone,
04:32and this is the last we heard of the Nova Empire, the Xandarians, or anything to do with Xandar itself.
04:37The annoying thing here, and why many fans consider this a loose end, is that decimated is a fairly loose term.
04:44Does it mean the Nova Empire is completely gone?
04:46Is the planet a wasteland, and are the Xandarians extinct?
04:50Or did Thanos just kill half the population as his signature move?
04:54It's highly likely the Nova Corps has survived in some capacity,
04:57and perhaps with the announcement of Nova being in the works, we will finally get the answer.
05:01Marvel Studios trolled everyone with its Avengers Infinity War marketing,
05:10leading people to believe that Hulk would be unleashed during the final battle in Wakanda.
05:14In reality, Bruce Banner and his angry green friend had relationship issues for the entire movie,
05:19forcing Banner to don the Hulkbuster armour in order to stand a fighting chance.
05:23Let's not talk about that CGI now.
05:25But the very next time we see Banner in Endgame, he and the Hulk have somehow fixed their problems,
05:30merged personalities, and become the Smart Hulk.
05:33The movie never properly explains how this came to be,
05:36with that explanation actually being cut from Avengers Infinity War.
05:39The Banner-Hulk reconciliation again went unexplained in Shang-Chi,
05:43where Banner was back to his regular human self.
05:45Then in She-Hulk footage, we saw a few months ago that he was back to Smart Hulk.
05:50So what's going on?
05:51It is possible She-Hulk will provide more of an insight into Banner and Hulk's newfound ability to merge and demerge at will.
05:57The character works without us knowing, sure,
05:58but such a pivotal moment in Banner's development does deserve some level of exploration.
06:044. What happened to Ghost?
06:06Ant-Man and the Wasp's main villain Ava Star, aka Ghost,
06:09is suffering from a condition that the movie describes as molecular disequilibrium.
06:14The cells in her body are torn apart and stitched back together on a consistent basis,
06:17and though this does grant her some pretty nifty powers, it's also a living nightmare,
06:21and Star is desperate to permanently fix her condition.
06:24Fortunately then, the end of the movie gives her a glimmer of hope,
06:27with Janet Van Dyne stabilizing her using some quantum energy.
06:30However, this is only a temporary measure,
06:32and the mid-credits scene shows Scott Lang entering the quantum realm
06:35to retrieve more healing particles to presumably help out Ava in the long term.
06:39Sounds like a solid plan,
06:40but it doesn't pan out when Thanos' snap leaves Scott stranded in the quantum realm,
06:44kicking off the events of Endgame.
06:46Ava isn't mentioned in that movie, and Scott never delivers the particles,
06:49understandable since, you know, he did have more pressing issues to deal with.
06:53This means that if she survived the snap, Ava goes several years without any new particles,
06:57and even if she was snapped, she's had to wait a fair old while for additional help.
07:01So, shouldn't her condition have killed her by now?
07:03If not, how did she survive?
07:06As is the case with other entries on the list,
07:08an upcoming project, in this case Ant-Man 3,
07:11might very well address this loose end,
07:13but for now, ghost fate is unclear.
07:153. Did Peggy find out about Steve and Sharon?
07:19This Steve-Sharon romance always came off as a little bit odd,
07:23primarily because Steve had been in love with her Aunt Peggy since World War II.
07:27Even when Peggy died, Steve never stopped loving her,
07:29as evidenced by his decision to leave behind as Avengers pals
07:32and go and live with her in the past.
07:34That decision only hammered home how weird it was that Steve had snogged Sharon in Captain America Civil War,
07:40a moment that does raise a further funny question.
07:42Did Steve ever tell Peggy that he played tonsil tennis with her niece,
07:45and how did Steve react when he met a much younger Sharon in the past?
07:48It's unlikely this will ever be addressed,
07:50because it's not really that important in the grand scheme of things,
07:52but it is quite amusing to think about.
07:532. Where are the Ravager Guardians?
07:57A loose end that's quite likely to be addressed is the whereabouts of the Ravager Guardians,
08:01last seen in one of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's many tags.
08:05This intergalactic team of misfits,
08:07led by Sylvester Stallone, Staker, or Gord,
08:09felt like they were planted here,
08:11because writer-director James Gunn had big plans for them further down the line,
08:14and it wouldn't make sense to hire a legend like Stallone if you're not going to utilise him.
08:17Of course, Gunn's firing in 2018 pushed back plans for the Guardians franchise,
08:22and if that hadn't happened,
08:23Guardians 3 would have hit cinemas already,
08:25and the Ravager Guardians might have made a comeback.
08:27On the plus side, Gunn's rehiring in 2019 put this back on track for 2023.
08:33Reportedly, this movie will be the end for the current team of Guardians,
08:36which might just mean the Ravager Guardians are about to take centre stage.
08:401. How exactly does Cap put the Infinity Stones back?
08:44There are tons of huge MCU moments that happened off-screen,
08:47but this one is arguably the most intriguing of the lot.
08:50When Cap is set back in time to return the Infinity Stones to their correct places of history,
08:55his entire adventure takes place off-screen.
08:57While we know the outcome of this adventure, he was obviously successful.
09:01Many fans consider this a loose end,
09:02because it just isn't as straightforward as the movie seems to think it is.
09:06It took a full team of Avengers to retrieve the stones,
09:08so how is Cap supposed to put them back all by himself?
09:11Some may be easier than others,
09:14but doesn't the Reality Stone need to be put back inside Jane Foster?
09:18And how exactly do you put the Soul Stone back?
09:20It's not like putting that fifth packet of crisps that you definitely don't need
09:23back on the shelf in the shop you've just picked it up from, right?
09:26And that is not to mention the potential drama that unfolded
09:29when Cap came face-to-face with his old nemesis Red Skull on Vormir.
09:33Like, how did that play out?
09:34Again, we know the ultimate outcome here,
09:36but there are so many smaller situations that the movie leaves open to interpretation.
09:40Cap's Infinity Stones Odyssey would make a cool live-action or even animated series one day,
09:45but for now, all fans can do is wonder how exactly it went down.
09:49All things considered, Kevin Farge does never like to say never,
09:53so maybe keep an eye out for some of them getting resolved in the near future.
09:56And then we're going to catch up all the audience behind them,
10:02but guys do if they escape zwei from the near future.
10:04Listen to the truth!
10:05We can actually see nothing about heartache and enjoy talking to people's POI,
10:07so give people hope to love her.
10:08I think this isn't a most important thing where everyone always met.
10:10We'll try to see the train with a demon and see what happens Okie F Flintis.
