Same-sex marriage campaigners take fight to Japan top court
A group of protesters gather outside Japan's Supreme Court to call for an end to the ban on same-sex marriage, one week after Tokyo's high court ruled the ban to be constitutional.
Japan remains the only G7 country without legal protections for same-sex unions. Conservative Sanae Takaichi, who became Japan's new Prime Minister in early October, opposes same-sex marriage.
"The Tokyo High Court has handed down a highly unjust ruling," said lawyer Taijiro Ohata.
