At the premiere of 'Barbie', Billie Eilish & Finneas talked about being inspired by the the movie and director Greta Gerwig's passion to join the soundtrack.

00:28Um, and the movie was so great and we're big fans of Greta and and have been forever
00:33So we figured it probably would be but then it really was so we were super inspired to write a song
00:38I was pleasantly blown away pleasantly blown away. I was gonna say surprised, but it wasn't a surprise

00:46Did you guys collaborate with Greta on kind of like what she was looking for out of a song?
00:50Well, it was really amazing honestly like she she had this approach that was like, I don't know
00:56I just want you guys to do something and like, you know showed us a couple scenes a good amount of the movie the movie actually
01:04Um, and then she was like, I I just want you guys to whatever is inspiring to you
01:09Just be inspired and like it doesn't have to be this if you don't want it to be it doesn't you don't even have to do anything
01:14But like it would be really cool if you did and I don't know it was really cool
01:18It was like little pressure, but also like clearly she was felt really passionate about it
01:24Which always feels really good when it doesn't feel like surface level
01:26Um, and we feel the same about her and so honestly, it was just like literally the next day after we saw the movie
01:32And we were both just really really inspired by the film and wrote a song about it
01:37And I saw you post a bunch of pictures on your Instagram of Barbie is with you as a kid
01:42What, what did this kind of mean to you to be a part of this franchise?
01:46I, I mean, it's so cool
01:49I mean, driving here and like just driving around the blocks
