00:00Why do you think this movie and making a movie about such a cultural icon is so important right now in these times?
00:07Well, finding a cultural icon is rarer and rarer these days.
00:14We're living in a world filled with noise and confusion and anger and hate.
00:19And I personally think Bruce Springsteen represents the best of us.
00:23And any time you can celebrate someone who's given so much, not only to Americans but to people all over the world,
00:30who does it so selflessly, that's really the definition of a cultural icon.
00:35And I think Bruce Springsteen is the best of who we are.
00:38Yeah, I believe someone to look to in real moments of doubt.
00:41You know they're morally sound and just.
00:46You know, you believe them because of their honesty.
00:49You know, I think it's important to look to those people.
00:55And that's what it is.
00:57When you found out that you got the role, did you, I mean obviously you were really happy,
01:02but was part of you like, I'm going to throw up or I might like soil myself?
01:06Yeah, of course.
01:07Yeah, yeah.
01:08No, I mean I took, you know, I had met with Scott and I was really excited about the idea of working with him
01:13before I even, you know, knew anything about this film.
01:15I'd been an admirer of Bruce's for a long time.
01:17It was all very exciting, but I wanted to make sure that I was the person for the job.
01:22And I had to, I had to consider it, you know, absolutely.
01:25Right.
01:26Did you cry a little bit before first night of filming?
01:28Yeah, I cried almost every night, I'm sure.
01:31Yeah, I mean it was, it was a tremendous amount of pressure.
01:34But Bruce, Bruce carried me through.
01:36I mean Scott, Bruce, but Bruce texted me almost every night.
01:40And he was on set very often.
01:43And I think without that sort of support and those texts in the evening,
01:49I certainly would have been, you know, crying a lot more.
