Jeremy Allen White: The pressure of playing Bruce Springsteen was paralysingSource: The Independent
Transcript
00:00Jeremy, Bruce has said that his shows are a combination of a circus, a dance party and a political rally.
00:05So how did you deal with the pressure of delivering a spectacle so internationally adored by fans for that reason?
00:10I mean, I think I try not to think about it so much, really.
00:12I think in the beginning, all those ideas I was very aware of and it was very daunting and even paralyzing at times.
00:20And I think when I was able to find a little bit of confidence was when I was trying to understand him a bit more internally or intimately
00:28in the periods when he's sort of, you know, on his own in Kult's Neck.
00:34And then in those performance pieces, you know, when I was on stage, I knew one thing, you know, I'd seen Bruce perform.
00:42I know that he sort of exhausts himself every time he's on stage.
00:46And I knew if I just pushed it as far as I could, you know, maybe I could fool everybody.
00:52And that was the goal.
