00:00My name is Billie Eilish.
00:01Billie Eilish.
00:02My name is Billie Eilish.
00:04My name is Billie Eilish.
00:05My name is Billie Eilish.
00:10Year five.
00:12Let's do this.
00:13I think it's October 18th, 2017.
00:16It's October 18th, 2018.
00:18October 18th, 2019.
00:20October 18th, 2020.
00:23The date is October 18th, 2021.
00:28I'm 15.
00:28I'm 16.
00:29I'm 18.
00:31I'm 19.
00:32I have 257,000.
00:35I have 6.3 million.
00:3840.7 million.
00:4167.5 million.
00:43I have 94.1 million followers.
00:48The most followed person that follows me is Chloe Grace Moretz.
00:51Katy Perry, maybe.
00:52Justin Bieber.
00:53Ariana Grande.
00:55Kylie Jenner, 275 million.
00:58It's way too many followers, girl.
01:00But thanks for following me.
01:02Picture of me and Charlie XCX.
01:04It's a picture of me smiling.
01:06When I first posted a picture of my blonde hair.
01:1023,054,701, which is ridiculous.
01:17Public?
01:18What is that?
01:21Well, I have not been in at all since March 11th.
01:30Before COVID at all.
01:31Like, I don't go in public anyway just because it's a complete disaster.
01:35Oh my gosh.
01:36That girl was going through an identity crisis.
01:40Oh my gosh.
01:43You can see it in my eyes.
01:44I mean, really.
01:45The low bun.
01:46Please.
01:47What's going on?
01:48My attitude used to be, well, I can't go out.
01:50You know, I can't go here.
01:51I can't go there.
01:52And I used to just, like, not even be able to, like, go to a park or, like, go get food
01:58or get coffee.
01:59I just, it freaked me out.
02:01In the last year, I have been opened up to it.
02:05I really feel grateful for that because being able to feel confident in stepping outside
02:12without a hat and a hood and glasses and a mask and a jacket and doing this or whatever,
02:20it's so much better and you don't have to live like that.
02:22And I realized that this year that I don't have to live like that.
02:25Per week, if I am going to stuff, it's, like, anywhere I go, but if I'm, like, being cautious
02:32and, like, not trying to be in everybody's faces, it's, like, I can manage my way around
02:38people without them noticing, which is cool.
02:40I didn't used to be able to do that because my pride was too huge.
02:43I was, like, I only want to be seen if I look like myself.
02:48So I would, like, never wear anything normal.
02:51I would wear, like, full on, like, all of the jewelry that I owned.
02:56And my hair is blonde now, so it's not, like, the only person you've ever seen with green
03:00hair walking by.
03:01And so who could it be out of the five people?
03:03It's gotten a lot easier, but if I go out, I mean, it's always going to happen.
03:08It's just that I'm, first of all, fine with it and I'm very happy about it.
03:12And also, I just know how to do it now.
03:17Judge me, please.
03:20I don't, and then one word, fucking no.
03:23It's my style.
03:26Billie Eilish parody is my style.
03:31I'm so much more open to stuff now, so I guess I would say, like, anything goes.
03:38Any being one word, thing being the second word, and then goes, period.
03:45I did that Vogue cover and it was a genre that we were doing a shoot for.
03:49It was an old, kind of Hollywood, lingerie, kind of classic thing, and it was supposed
03:59to be, like, a specific aesthetic for a photo shoot.
04:02And then it was like, Billie Eilish is a new style.
04:04And then people kept being like, wow, her new style, like, wow, it's so much better than
04:09the old style.
04:10Or like, wow, I wish that we could have her old style back.
04:13I'm so sad that she's just changed into this.
04:16And it was so weird, because I was like, it's not a new style.
04:19It's one thing I wore, and then I'm going to wear this another day, and then I'm going
04:23to do this.
04:24And literally the thing that I've been preaching about since I first started is wear what you
04:32want.
04:33Dress how you want, act how you want, talk how you want, be how you want.
04:38That's all I've ever said.
04:39It's just being open to new things and not, you know, letting people ruin it for you.
04:47I am for sure a billion times more confident than both of those years.
04:54I feel like I'm probably the most confident I've ever been in my life.
04:57It's true.
04:58Yeah, no, nothing will ever top that 2019 ego.
05:04I was feeling myself, that is for sure.
05:09It's because I had been so miserable for so long that I finally wasn't, and I just never
05:14shut up about it.
05:15But I've been good.
05:16I've been good.
05:17I mean, I'm starting to have like an adulthood, which is new for me.
05:26It's very exciting, and I have had new experiences, and new people, and lots of love.
05:33I don't feel lying.
05:36Yeah, I do.
05:37Do you feel pressure?
05:40Yes.
05:42Yeah.
05:43Uh, yep.
05:45Yeah.
05:46But I don't fucking care.
05:48I don't care.
05:49I really don't care.
05:50Like, it's like, it's the kind of pressure that's like, it hits me, and then I don't
05:53care.
05:54Like, I know, and like, it's in my brain that people expect a lot from me, and that
05:59they expect this, and they want me to do this, and...
06:01This is just me trying to convince myself that I didn't care.
06:06Every single one.
06:08Every single one, I know that I cared, and I was just literally coming up with some stupid
06:12quote that would make me pretend that I didn't care.
06:1480,000 people is way easier than performing in front of eight people.
06:19That's true.
06:20I used to be just filled with these, like, inspirational quotes, just like ready to go
06:25all the time, that I didn't even agree with most of the time.
06:29Kind of crazy.
06:30Every time I see an interview from that period when I was like 16, I'm like, pfft.
06:34Everything I said was so stupid.
06:35Like not even stupid, it just was like not what I was actually thinking.
06:38I was thinking like, I'm overwhelmed, I hate this, everybody expects something from me,
06:42I don't have anything to give them.
06:43I fucking suck, my jewelry is cool, I want tattoos, I want a car.
06:50That's all I was thinking.
06:51Like I was not thinking that stuff.
06:54I feel a lot of pressure, but I also would say like, back then, I was more loved.
07:01I was pretty overall like loved, I would say, to be honest.
07:08And so I was like scared because I really wanted to keep that love.
07:12And now like tons of people hate me, so I'm not worried anymore.
07:14I'm like, oh, okay.
07:15Well, if you like me, you like me.
07:16If you don't, you don't.
07:17So.
07:18There are things that I regret, but I don't know if I would change them because everything
07:24that happened that I regret like made me the way I am and like everybody says that and
07:29it's pretty cliche, but it's pretty true.
07:31So, I don't know, I feel like every situation that I've been in where, you know, maybe I
07:36wasn't being the best that I could, I think I learned from it.
07:39See, one of those, just another one of those stupid little, oh, I'm really smart and I really
07:51know.
07:52Of course, I had regret, regret, dude.
07:56Don't be so sad.
07:57It's such a waste of time.
08:02Don't post everything you think.
08:06This poor kid.
08:07Oh my God.
08:10Don't take anything for granted.
08:13Don't ever come off stage during this year and think, ah, I didn't really like that show.
08:18I didn't really, nope.
08:19Nope.
08:20And by the way, I'm never doing that again.
08:24When shows are allowed, every show is going to be the best show I've ever done.
08:28Oh boy.
08:29You know what's funny?
08:30It's so funny how fast we get used to things.
08:35It's kind of scary.
08:37Because you think, you know, when you don't have something, you think like, oh my God,
08:40when I have that in front of me, I'm not even going to get used to it.
08:43It's going to be so exciting and new.
08:45And it's exciting for like two seconds and then it's not.
08:48And it's super weird.
08:49I don't mean shows, I just mean everything in general.
08:51It takes one second to get used to stuff because that's what we're meant to do is adapt.
08:58I wish that I could actually tell that year ago, Billy, because boy, was I suffering not
09:06playing shows and not seeing fans in real life and, you know, being able to actually
09:11be with them for real and not through a screen.
09:15So it's been amazing.
09:16But it's so crazy how fast I just like picked it all right back up.
09:20You know, I feel like everything is permanent all the time.
09:23And it's not.
09:24Things go in waves and things happen and things stop and then they start.
09:27And it's like you you just have no idea what's to come ever.
09:31And I think just try to be aware of the amazing things you have going on right in the moment
09:37instead of later, because even though then, you know, I felt like a year ago now, like
09:43nothing was good and I had nothing I like to do and there was nothing that was and there
09:49was so many things that now I look back and I'm like, oh, that was cool.
09:52And it's just so weird that we don't realize what's in front of us at all until it's not.
09:58It's very weird.
09:59My family, I'm, I'm always talking to my family, always, every second of my life.
10:07My mom and dad still come on tour with me.
10:09Finneas still comes on tour with me every day, pretty much every day.
10:13We're always together, always talking, always, you know, whatever.
10:17It's great.
10:18I love my family.
10:19I'm so lucky to have my family right now, both of my parents every day for sure.
10:24I mean, I guess some days go by when I don't, but pretty much every single day and like Finneas
10:29pretty much every day.
10:31Again, some days go by where I don't, but my family is still just as involved as they
10:37have always been in, in all the good ways.
10:40I love my family dearly.
10:41From Fruitvale Station.
10:44It'll always be up there.
10:45But I recently saw a movie called Eye Origins, which was so, so good.
10:53I had no idea what it was and I just, Finneas showed it to me randomly in the airport and
10:57I just, it was amazing.
10:59Five Grammys.
11:02One, two, three, four, five.
11:07Six, seven.
11:09Performed at the Oscars, met like every celebrity that's ever existed and it was the most overwhelming,
11:14insane, surreal thing I've ever experienced.
11:16I went to the Brits.
11:18I won a Brit.
11:19It was amazing.
11:20And we recorded the Bond theme song and working with Hans Zimmer and the orchestra to record
11:25it and completely surreal and amazing.
11:28Gosh, it's been a crazy couple of years, man.
11:32I made an album.
11:36I put out an album.
11:37I did get two more Grammys.
11:39The documentary came out.
11:40That was terrifying.
11:41I went to the Bond premiere in London, which was amazing.
11:44I've never seen something so crazy.
11:46I met the Royal family.
11:47I put out a book.
11:49I did an Amazon special.
11:51I put out a movie with Disney, which was called A Love Letter to Los Angeles, which was amazing.
11:56I'm launching a fragrance, which is the most exciting thing to me.
12:01No disrespect to all the other things I've accomplished, but that's very exciting.
12:06I was a host at the Met Gala, which was an unbelievable opportunity, thing I got to do.
12:17And I wore a big, beautiful dress made by Oscar de la Renta, who I said at the beginning
12:24of the conversation of let's make a Met Gala dress, you have to stop using fur because if
12:31you don't, I am not working with you.
12:33That was also thanks to my mom for being with me on that one and fighting for it with me.
12:38So I got Oscar de la Renta to stop using fur completely.
12:44And that was a really, really big, big thing for me.
12:48And I hope that more brands follow along with being environmentally conscious and try to help
12:59the world instead of make it worse.
13:04The shows are like the one thing that I feel like I've ever been good at.
13:10I know that sounds stupid, but it's like the only thing I've ever done that made me feel
13:15like I belonged, keeping my family safe and, you know, staying up.
13:24Cute thing to say.
13:27I second that for sure.
13:29I was really just falling apart, not being able to do shows because they are the thing
13:38that makes me feel the best that I am.
13:42It feels like the best that I can be when I'm on stage.
13:45And getting to do that again, I was like rewound like I'm a music box and I can be in a bad mood
13:51before a show and then come off stage and I'm completely rejuvenated.
13:56It like winds me up.
13:58It's crazy.
13:58So yeah, I agree with that one.
14:00I've had some conversations with Bieber about this.
14:02Ariana has been really cool about stuff.
14:04Even like Katy Perry told me that I could reach out to her whenever.
14:07Gaga has said it to me before.
14:09It's, you know, it's nice to hear from people that like have gone through this and know what it's like.
14:14I guess I turned to my mom, honestly, the most in this, in this period, I feel like no matter
14:25all the people that have, you know, similar things that I've been through or have similar
14:30lifestyles or have, you know, advice to give, I feel like my mom still beats them all.
14:36Even though she's new to this just as I am, you know, meaning fame and this kind of world, but
14:46my mom has a very good way of looking at the world and she's the main person that I go to and
14:54like literally like almost the only person.
14:56So my mom.
15:01Face recognition, like there's no home button.
15:04What the heck?
15:05They've made monograms crazy.
15:07What the hell is a monogram?
15:08A hologram is what I meant.
15:10It's crazy that you can charge your phone by like putting it on that little disc.
15:14Robots doing stuff.
15:16The vaccine, dude.
15:18Hell fucking yeah.
15:20I really,
15:22really urge you if you are not already vaccinated, please get vaccinated.
15:27It's not just for you, you selfish bitch.
15:30It's for everyone around you.
15:31Take care of the people around you, man.
15:33Protect your friends.
15:35Protect your children.
15:35Protect your grandparents.
15:37Protect anyone you walk by.
15:40Brockhampton.
15:42Tiara Wack is sick.
15:43My favorite artist is techno.
15:45I've been loving some Arlo Parks.
15:47My favorite artist at the moment is The Doe, who like changed my life and perspective on music
15:56last year.
15:57It was like one of their albums.
15:59I think they only have two albums.
16:00One is called A Mouthful and one is called Shake Shook Shakin.
16:05Shake Shook Shakin was my main source of inspiration during the making of Happier Than Ever, the album.
16:14Last year, all summer, I would just listen to it to and from Phineas' house when we would make the album.
16:19And then I'd drive around and I'd go swimming and I'd play it.
16:23And it like changed my life, that album.
16:25And it still does.
16:26And A Mouthful has also changed my life as of this week.
16:29My brother is my best friend.
16:30My brother is my best friend.
16:31My best friend is Phineas, but he is also my brother.
16:35We got Drew, we got Zoe, we got Laura, we got Shark, we got my family, my brother.
16:42Those is my best friends.
16:44I got a lot of good friends.
16:47Phineas is definitely one of my best friends.
16:52My mom, my dad, blank, blank, blank, blank, blank, blank, blank, are the other best friends.
16:59A tattoo, maybe?
17:03No face tattoos.
17:06The only two tattoos I want to get are the ones that barely anyone could see.
17:09I did get a tattoo.
17:11But you won't ever see it.
17:13Light again.
17:14I have three tattoos now.
17:18I have one here that says Eilish.
17:22Yes, I love myself.
17:24I have one here, big boy here, which is a dragon.
17:27And then I just got this a few weeks ago, which is some fairies
17:31that are from a book that I had growing up.
17:34A little fairy book called Fairyopolis.
17:37They're like my little guardian angel fairies.
17:41I love tattoos.
17:42My mom has her hands on her head.
17:46Look at the way she's sitting.
17:47Rude, mom.
17:48Be supportive.
17:49And my mom hates tattoos.
17:51No, I'm not going to be all tatted up, but I, you know, have some more ideas.
17:55Right now I feel, I feel pretty satisfied.
17:59I feel like in a good zone with them.
18:01I felt the urge for a while and now I'm like, ah, give me a little more time
18:05and then I'll get another one.
18:06But I got the dragon right after last year's.
18:09All I had at the last one was this little guy.
18:12Soda did this one.
18:14Lucy did this one.
18:15Dragon did this one.
18:18Amazing people.
18:19First thing that came to mind is like when it's, when my feet are close to the bottom of the bed.
18:28That's the scariest part of my day.
18:29Every day.
18:31I jump from like two feet away from my bed onto the bed.
18:34And if my feet are too close to the bottom, uh, under my bed, I go, like, I can't help myself by gag.
18:42It's disgusting.
18:43Creeps me out.
18:44Oh, it creeps me out so much.
18:45That's why like all the furniture at my house, there's nothing underneath.
18:49They all go to the ground.
18:50I made that very, very clear when I was getting all my furniture.
18:54I was like, please don't get anything with space underneath.
18:58So all my chairs, my couches, my bed frame, it all goes all the way to the ground.
19:02There's no storage.
19:03I don't, I would rather lose the storage space under my bed
19:08than have to step next to the bottom of my bed.
19:13Dead ass.
19:13Dead ass.
19:14I don't really get scared of like scary things, you know?
19:17Like I had a huge anaconda literally almost choke me to death.
19:21That was so much fun.
19:24So much fun.
19:25I guess that, what is the scariest thing I've ever done?
19:29Falling in love.
19:31What?
19:31My relationships bring me a lot of joy.
19:35Baths bring me a lot of joy.
19:37Like the things that like just automatically bring me joy are rain and clouds and like mist and fog.
19:46Like these things are, they just, I feel happy.
19:49I have seasonal affective disorder, but the opposite where I am, I am so happy in gloomy weather.
19:57And I am pretty miserable in hot, sunny blue sky weather.
20:02I, very seriously, I, I find myself pretty depressed in the summertime just because of the weather.
20:10And other things, but just that's like the, that's initially the thing.
20:17Yeah.
20:17Yeah.
20:18Being on stage makes me feel incredibly powerful.
20:21There's a part in my show where I get on a lift that like takes me over the crowd and I like lean over the edge
20:29and look down and that is a kind of power that no one should feel whoosh.
20:34It makes me feel literally invincible.
20:36It's crazy.
20:37I don't know clothing, like clothing makes you feel powerful and it can also make you feel very, very weak.
20:44So that's, that's a big thing.
20:46Little things, man.
20:51Ooh, do I feel grown up?
20:52For the most part.
20:53Yeah.
20:54I feel like I've felt very grown up this year.
20:58And I really like it.
20:59I, I like growing up a lot.
21:03I loved being young and I still am young, but I, I, I loved being a teenager and I
21:10kind of have always dreaded growing up and getting older and it's always been really scary to me, but I've
21:16enjoyed the hell out of it.
21:18I love it.
21:18I love being able to do things on my own and have my own freedom and my own choices and my own,
21:25own, you know, right to things.
21:29It's very exciting.
21:30My mommy, come here.
21:32This is my mom.
21:33She is sick as a booty.
21:34I don't mind.
21:35I can stay here that long.
21:36I love you.
21:38I love it too.
21:39Hello baby.
21:40His grandma.
21:41I love you so much.
21:43I love you so much.
21:46Come here.
21:47Join me.
21:50I love you, Billy.
21:52My sweet mama.
