The White House is not ruling out American boots on the ground in Venezuela.
00:05
Press Secretary Caroline Levitt was asked about it Monday and simply said this.
00:09
There's many options at the president's disposal that are on the table,
00:12
and I'll let him speak on those.
00:14
According to a new report from Reuters, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro
00:18
has a plan should U.S. troops invade his country and go up against its less than impressive military.
00:24
He plans to mount a guerrilla-style resistance, and so chaos, in the hopes of making it impossible
00:30
for the U.S. to remove him from power.
00:32
Venezuela's military has about 123,000 active personnel with very little combat experience.
00:39
Desertions are commonplace, and their equipment is deteriorating.
00:43
All this to say they wouldn't have a snowball's chance against the U.S.
00:47
While there is a theoretical 8 million-member civilian militia,
00:52
analysts say that they would expect the number who actually show up
00:55
in order to fight to be only in the thousands.
