00:00The White House is not ruling out American boots on the ground in Venezuela.
00:05Press Secretary Caroline Levitt was asked about it Monday and simply said this.
00:09There's many options at the president's disposal that are on the table,
00:12and I'll let him speak on those.
00:14According to a new report from Reuters, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro
00:18has a plan should U.S. troops invade his country and go up against its less than impressive military.
00:24He plans to mount a guerrilla-style resistance, and so chaos, in the hopes of making it impossible
00:30for the U.S. to remove him from power.
00:32Venezuela's military has about 123,000 active personnel with very little combat experience.
00:39Desertions are commonplace, and their equipment is deteriorating.
00:43All this to say they wouldn't have a snowball's chance against the U.S.
00:47While there is a theoretical 8 million-member civilian militia,
00:52analysts say that they would expect the number who actually show up
00:55in order to fight to be only in the thousands.
