00:00I may or may not have a pair of Clark Kent glasses, I think.
00:03Oh yeah, you deserve those.
00:05Yeah.
00:11Hi, we are the stars and executive producers of Superman and Lois,
00:15and we are here with The Hollywood Reporter at Comic-Con.
00:18First, I have to ask, what was it like being up there in front of a massive crowd of fans in Hall H today
00:23and getting to give them a special preview of season four?
00:25Ah, very special.
00:28This is the only Comic-Con that we've been here as a group to do for the show,
00:32so that's a very cool thing.
00:33And this was the first time that I'd seen the clip.
00:35Had you seen the clip?
00:36I hadn't seen that clip.
00:38Yeah.
00:38Just the short one.
00:39No, so I think very cool to give everybody kind of a sneak peek of what's coming up this season.
00:44And at least from my point of view, it seems like very obvious that even though we had a few restrictions this year,
00:49it's not really going to change much.
00:52Pretty awesome.
00:52I took a great video that I posted on my Instagram of the whole crowd,
00:57and everybody was so pumped up.
00:59And every time I'm here, I can see the line out of my hotel window, and it's hot,
01:05and they're waiting in line for hours and hours.
01:08And I'm just so appreciative of genre fans because they're so loyal, and they're wonderful,
01:14and they're astute, and they're great.
01:16And it was humbling to be in Hall H today, and it was a great way to end the series.
01:24Season three ended on a major cliffhanger, and I'm sure you probably can't say much,
01:28but what can you tease about the fourth and final season?
01:31I can say that we're killing Superman.
01:35We're doing the death of Superman.
01:38Like always, we take these comic book runs and put it into the Superman and Lois blender
01:44and put our own stamp on it, so we're all really excited.
01:48It turned out pretty great.
01:49For Bitsy and Tyler, since this is the final season,
01:52what will you miss most about the show and playing these characters?
01:58I already miss the crew.
02:00I will say that.
02:01You know, it was often very tough, cold, rainy, muddy conditions shooting in Vancouver,
02:07and it really was a labor of love.
02:09And, you know, the show looks like it has a much bigger budget than it ever actually did,
02:13and that was because everybody put their heart and soul into it.
02:16And I miss working with Tyler.
02:18I miss how much he makes fun of me.
02:20That is my love language.
02:22I love being teased.
02:23He tapped into that right away.
02:25And I miss, you know, I will, it's fun to be, like, sometimes my husband David reminds me,
02:32like, you're going to be Lois Lane for the rest of history.
02:34You're one of a small group of actresses, and that's really humbling,
02:39and I'm grateful to have been, you know, a part of that for the last six years,
02:43and to be able to play as a feminist myself,
02:46to be able to play a woman who has remained so iconic as a fierce woman
02:52and an inspiration to men and women since 1938.
02:59Echoing a lot of that, missing the crew, missing the cast, missing all these incredible people.
03:05It's been a lot of fun for the years that we had,
03:08so I think I'll miss everybody here and back up in Vancouver the most.
03:12But I think it's strange, because as much as it feels like saying goodbye to something,
03:18we're a piece of something much bigger,
03:21and so, you know, these characters we're going to live on,
03:24and not just our versions of them, but new versions of them.
03:27And so it's kind of saying goodbye, but in a strange way, not having to leave it all behind.
03:32So I think it's in good hands for the future of it,
03:35and so it's kind of like, yeah, I think it's more the personal side of it,
03:39our personal experience, but as far as, like, the actual project goes,
03:45it kind of lives on, so.
03:47How do you hope your portrayals of Superman and Lois have added to the great legacy of these characters?
03:52I think we will always stand out as having been the first live-action version that was them as parents,
03:58and I think that kind of sort of cements us as, oh, Lois and Clark did have kids,
04:04and also just, you know, for live-action to have done a series that was so cinematic and so grounded.
04:13I'm going to echo one of my favorite responses about the show.
04:17I hope people look back at it and just go, not bad.
04:21Brent and Todd, what will you miss about working on this show?
04:24It's just nice to work on a show about family, you know,
04:26and to tap into that thing that Lois and Clark are the, you know, in love with each other.
04:31They're these great parents, and they're also great, you know, spouses to each other,
04:36and just to tap into a dynamic that's complicated and weird and funny,
04:40which is, like, being a parent in real life, I'm going to miss that probably most of all.
04:45Yeah, I'm going to miss, like, a lot of what Bitsy and Tyler said.
04:49You know, the writers going to the writer's room every day, such a great group of people.
04:53The cast, amazing, across the board, the crew, the hardest working, our visual effects team, amazing.
05:01And for four years, we all, like, bought into this idea of, like, we're doing Superman and Lois Lane,
05:07so whatever you have to give, give, and then some, and they did.
05:11And for me, personally, Bitsy and Tyler are always going to be Superman and Lois Lane.
05:17There's just never, I just don't see it.
05:19I wish everybody the best of luck, but they're always going to be Superman and Lois Lane to me.
05:25Hear, hear.
05:26Were any of you able to steal anything from the set?
05:31Indeed, I was.
05:32I wouldn't call it stealing, though.
05:34I have, from the pilot episode, I have a mug that says L on it.
05:39Then I was gifted by Elliot, our prop guy, Lois's suitcase, which I refused to wear the entire run of the series
05:47because I don't like props, unless they're necessary.
05:50So I have that.
05:51It has LL on it.
05:53And I also, I really, really wanted to pay homage to the comics throughout, with the wardrobe, you know, even today.
06:01And I decided, you know, yes, this is taking place in, like, 2020, I guess, when it started.
06:06But I had decided, instead of her, like, taking notes on an iPad or an iPhone, I'm like, I want old school little notepad.
06:14So I got the notepad.
06:15But the coolest thing I have from the show was during the Bizarro episode, when they, like, destroyed our house and everything was backwards.
06:22What season was that, two?
06:24Two.
06:24Two.
06:25There was this cool, just kind of roughed up painting of the back of an elephant sitting on a tree in the Kent kitchen.
06:34And I was like, I need that.
06:36It's beautiful.
06:37It's beautiful.
06:38And so I talked to Set Deck, and they were like, well, we're never going to do the Bizarro again, so it's yours.
06:43So that's my favorite thing I have from the show.
06:45What about you?
06:46I think we got this hand-stitched sign that says, it went by so fast, which hangs in their kitchen, and it's kind of symbolic of the show.
06:55So Todd and I took one of those for the road, and it kind of means a lot.
06:59Oh, we both have one.
07:01Oh, 20.
07:01Oh, that's nice.
07:03That's nice.
07:04What about you?
07:05I may or may not have a pair of Clark Kent glasses.
07:09Oh, yeah.
07:09You deserve those.
07:10Yeah.
07:11So, yeah.
07:12Other than that, I don't want to get in trouble.
07:13Tyler got to the point where he felt naked without them on his face.
07:20I did.
07:20I did.
07:20There's a spoiler, but I'm not going to give it away.
07:22No, you can't.
07:23I almost did.
07:23I stopped myself.
07:25I was close.
07:27So close.
07:28Yeah.
07:29It's okay.
07:29We're halfway through the day.
07:30It's great.
07:33That's awesome.
07:34And coming up, we'll soon see David Cornswett and Rachel Brosnahan take on these roles in the new Superman movie.
07:40Have you gotten the chance to chat with them at all?
07:42No.
07:43I did.
07:43When I posted my sort of adieu message on Instagram, I passed the torch to her, and she responded.
07:51Again, while we were all sad that the series came to an end faster than we thought it would,
07:57we are grateful to DC Comics for giving us the opportunity to close it out.
08:01And I personally sort of know James Gunn and Peter Safran.
08:06I think highly of both of them.
08:07I trust that whatever they have planned for the DC universe is going to be great.
08:12Yeah, for me, from the day I started this, I was always very aware of just being a small piece with a very large legacy.
08:20So there was always that idea of passing the baton, and whenever that day came, which is now, again, very, very honored and privileged to have been a part of this, and super happy to pass it off to David.
08:34I'm sure he's going to do a great job.
08:35He actually did send me a really nice letter as we were wrapping up, so that was really lovely of him to do.
08:41But, yeah, I wish him the best, and I have no doubt they're going to be great.
08:44Since we're at Comic-Con, we're going to do a few wildcard comic questions.
08:49I'm going to give you this bucket, and you just pull one out and answer it.
08:54You can go ahead and grab it.
08:55I'll grab it.
08:56There we go.
08:58I'm like, no, I guess I might get it.
09:00Okay.
09:02Is this for the group, or is this just, this is my question?
09:04You can all answer if you want.
09:07Who is the most iconic voice in an animated series that comes to mind?
09:12I have to answer this.
09:16My husband, David Gentoli from Grimm, voices Batman in some of the DC animated movies, like, I don't even know what they're called, like, The Doom That Came to Gotham, and then, you know, some other, so I have to say David.
09:29Yeah.
09:30Who also directed episode three of Superman and Lois and killed it?
09:35This doesn't say DC, so I'm going to veer a little bit.
09:38I'm going to say Tom Hanks as Woody.
09:39I feel like that's kind of got to be pretty, pretty close to the top.
09:44Yeah.
09:50Let's pull out another one.
09:51Yeah.
09:52Let's see.
09:52You want to pull one out?
09:53Actually, he just did a voiceover the other day in the car, and he pressed play, and I was like, damn, can you just talk like that all the time?
10:01We would have way fewer fights.
10:03You know what, Tobin Bell did Savitar on the Flash show?
10:08Tobin Bell did Savitar, and, you know, Tobin Bell is awesome, so that was pretty fun.
10:15Oh, okay.
10:19I'm going to the left.
10:20All right.
10:22If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
10:24Teleportation.
10:28Invisibility.
10:28Flight.
10:31Sorry.
10:32Flight.
10:33Yeah.
10:34No brainer.
10:35You really want to, like, get up there all cold and wet?
10:38Wouldn't you rather just arrive?
10:40No, but there's no speed limit.
10:42We didn't say fly slowly.
10:43We just said fly.
10:44So we can fly very, very fast.
10:46It's totally fine.
10:47And I worry about the B side of teleportation.
10:50Like the A side, you disappear.
10:52Do you reappear?
10:53Do you reappear all at one part?
10:54Yeah, you reappear with all of your hair and makeup intact.
10:58In theory.
10:59She's making the rules.
11:05Criminate.
11:08What's the best costume you've seen so far?
11:10I haven't seen any this year.
11:14I actually haven't seen any walking around yet.
11:16I saw, I was walking, the boys and Amy and I were walking down to eat yesterday.
11:21And there was, like, I thought it was Hugh Jackman.
11:24Like, there was a Wolverine.
11:25Chops, everything.
11:26Like, spot on.
11:27Yeah, he was taking pictures with kids.
11:29My kids dressed up, so I'm taking them.
11:31I was just going to say, your children.
11:34Also, the only costumes I've seen, but your adorable children.
11:38Ringers.
11:38Yeah.
11:38Yeah.
11:40Ringers.
11:41Ringers.
11:42Ringers.
11:43Ringers.
11:44Ringers.
11:45Ringers.

11:47Ringers.
11:48Ringers.
11:49Ringers.
11:50Ringers.
11:51Ringers.
11:52Ringers.
11:53Ringers.
11:54Ringers.
11:55Ringers.

11:58Ringers.
11:59Ringers.
