00:00Willie Garson, best known for playing Stanford Blatch in Sex and the City, has died. He was 57.
00:06His son Nathan Garson shared the news of his father's passing on Instagram on Tuesday.

00:11I love you so much, Papa. You always were the toughest and funniest and smartest person I've known.
00:17I'm glad you shared your love with me. I'll never forget it or lose it.
00:20Garson began his television career booking small roles on popular programs in the 80s and 90s,
00:25such as The X-Files. And in 1998, he took on what would become one of his most prominent TV roles
00:30as Stanford Blatch. The stylish, best male friend is Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw in HBO's
00:36Sex and the City. He reprised his role for the spinoff films Sex and the City and Sex and the City 2,
00:41and was set to appear in the upcoming reboot and Just Like That.
00:44Following his role in the HBO series, Garson continued his career performing on TV as con man
00:49Mozzie on USA Network's White Collar from 2009 to 2014.
00:53Among his other various TV parts, he most recently had a recurring role on Supergirl from 2019 to 2020.
00:59In the wake of his death on Tuesday, Hollywood figures took to social media to pay tribute to
01:04the actor.
01:05Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon wrote on Twitter,
01:07Kim Cattrell said,
01:21Such sad news and a terribly sad loss to the Sex and the City family. Our condolences and rest in peace, dear Willie.
01:28And Kristen Davis shared a lengthy message on Instagram, writing in part,
01:32Willie is beloved by our entire community. He was smarter and funnier than you ever would have imagined.
01:37We are bereft without him.
01:38She continued,
01:39But I really want to pay tribute to his fearless commitment to single fatherhood.
01:43We spoke about being single parents through adoption often,
01:46and nothing gave him more joy and pride than his son Nathan.
01:49Plus, Mario Cantone tweeted,
01:51I couldn't have had a more brilliant TV partner.
01:53I'm devastated and just overwhelmed with sadness.
01:56Taken away from all of us way soon.
