00:00The National Nutrition Council, or NNCS, or NNC, rather, is reminding the public to maintain healthy eating habits
00:07as the holiday season approaches, citing the risk of diseases associated with overeating.
00:14The NNC noted that more Filipinos gained between 0.4 and 0.9 kilograms during the holidays,
00:21leading to an increase in cases of high cholesterol and hypertension.
00:25These health issues are linked to excessive consumption of fatty, salty, and sweet foods,
00:31such as lichon and ham, coupled with a lack of sleep and exercise.
00:36Among the advices the council has cited for the public are to practice moderation when eating,
00:43include fruits and vegetables in meals, and drink enough water to avoid digestive problems
00:48like bloating, indigestion, and stomach discomfort.
00:51The NNC also recommends following the Pingang Pinoy meal planner
00:56to ensure a balanced diet throughout the festive season.
