00:00Public school teachers and non-teaching personnel are now included among the beneficiaries of the Benting Bigas program.
00:07This follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Education.
00:15An estimated 800,000 DepEd personnel are set to receive 20 pesos worth of rice, particularly those in remote areas in island barangays.
00:25Education Secretary Sonny Angara welcomed the initiative, noting that Kadiwa stores will also be made available in schools.
00:35Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tulaurel Jr. assured that the government will make affordable rice even more accessible next year with support from DepEd.
