02:49It's Mark Dagnolk when we come back to downtown.
02:52Thunder Basketball on FanDuel Sports Network is brought to you by MidFirst Bank,
02:56the official bank of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
02:59By Devon Energy, commitment runs deep.
03:02And by your Oklahoma Ford dealers, Ford is the best in Oklahoma.
03:06As the Thunder start this two-game road trip up at the Pacific Northwest,
03:10let's hear from Thunder head coach Mark Dagnolk in today's OU Health Coaches Corner.
03:14It's up in the whole league right now.
03:19The whole league is crashing more, pressuring more, fouling more.
03:23And so it's just something that you have to deal with.
03:26You know, these guys go to the glass.
03:27If you get the rebound against them, you can run against them because of that.
03:32But we got to hit, you know, and go get the ball.
03:35Klingen being out changes it a little bit because he just garners so much attention.
03:38He gets a lot of rebounds himself.
03:40He's like Hart.
03:41And he occupies, you know, multiple defenders at times,
03:45which allow other guys to get in there.
03:46So he definitely changes the equation.
03:49But their wing guys really do a good job.
03:51And they've got great size and athleticism.
03:52As the Thunder know, the Portland Trail Blazers can cause many problems,
03:57particularly on the offensive glass.
04:00The Thunder going to try to close out the month of November
04:02with the win here on the road against the Blazers.
04:05Lineups and Tip coming up next.
04:11Start time for tip-off here in beautiful Portland, Oregon,
04:15as the Thunder getting ready to take on the Portland Trail Blazers
04:18from the Moda Center.
04:19Third matchup between these two teams.
04:22Today's starting lineups are brought to you by Kia.
04:24Let's start with OKC.
04:26Best record in the NBA, 19-1, winners of 11 in a row.
04:29Shea Gilgis, Alexander, and Kaysen Wallace will man the backcourt.
04:33Jen Holmgren gets the start at the 5.
04:35No Isaiah Harnstein.
04:37That will continue over the next 10 to 14 days.
04:39J-Dub will be making his second start of the season.
04:42And Lou Dort rounding out the starting 5 for the Thunder.
04:45Now the Portland Trail Blazers, announced by interim head coach Thiago Splitter.
04:51They are 8-11.
04:52Sidney Sissoko gets the start with Denny Obdia.
04:55Obdia has been playing at an all-star level all season long.
04:59No doubt of him playing it.
05:00He heard Mark Dagnall talk about him being out.
05:03That's a huge loss there for their 5.
05:06So Grant going small gets the start with Tumani Kamara on the front court
05:10as well as Chris Murray.
05:12For the first time today, let's send it over and say hello to our very own Nick Gallo.
05:18Thanks, Chris.
05:19Exactly a week ago, just minutes after the Thunder,
05:22put the finishing touches on a 27-point win over these Blazers.
05:26Mark Dagnall came to the podium and had a very clear message.
05:29He said the next meeting between these teams was going to be a hard-fought battle
05:33inside a tough environment against a feisty team.
05:36And a hungry one, too.
05:37Because the Thunder, the last meeting, held these Blazers to just 97 points.
05:42The only time this season that the Blazers have been held under 100,
05:46as you'll see in today's Ford Fact.
05:48And tonight, before the game, Dagnall reinforced that,
05:51saying despite all three matchups featuring different personnel,
05:55OKC has to remain rooted in its own internal growth.
05:58Then, guys, it's about applying that standard to the style of each opponent,
06:02which is a really unique one here in Portland.
06:04Yeah, it's interesting, Michael, because the dynamic of all three of these games,
06:08this game number 21 of the season, you're playing the Blazers for the third time,
06:13but here in this one, the dynamic's completely different than the first two.
06:17Well, and that's kind of how the NBA goes.
06:19A little bit different look for both these teams tonight, being minus their big men.
06:25They were pretty much at full strength back in Oklahoma City in the second game.
06:29First game here early this month, a little bit different for the Thunder in terms of not having J-Dub.
06:35You get J-Dub tonight, you get Aaron Wiggins back.
06:39You know, two key personnels, not only for the starting lineup in J-Dub.
06:42Man, glad to see him back his first game against the Suns a couple of nights ago.
06:46But getting Wiggins back, your top serve off the bench.
06:50Aaron Wiggins expected to be in uniform.
06:53The Thunder blew out the Blazers in OKC last Sunday, 122-95.
07:01This Blazers team can give you plenty of problems.
07:04This building, this team gave the Thunder its only loss of the year.
07:10And what was on the back end of a back-to-back, that was on November 5th, a two-point Portland victory.
07:15And what a record the Thunder are coming in with, man.
07:19You just cannot downplay that.
07:21Getting out of the gates with a massive start here at 19-1 and playing with a target on your back.
07:28I mean, you know what they did last year.
07:30You know they're defending champions.
07:31Everybody is going after you every night, whether you're full strength or not.
07:35And somehow they've been able to muster just one loss.
07:39You know, that's quite impressive here.
07:40Even though we're just playing at game 21 right now, folks, on this afternoon game.
07:47Blazers starting very small with Grant at the 5.
07:51And Chet Holmgren easily wins the opening tip.
07:53And away we go here inside the motor center.
07:57Turnaround shot.
07:58Holmgren had a good look, shooting it right over the top of the defense.
08:01And right over Sissoko.
08:04No good.
08:05Back to the other way.
08:06There's a miss.
08:07That's what Portland will do.
08:10Take a lot of threes and try to get into that deep painted area.
08:15The relocation.
08:17Wallace on the move.
08:18Catches.
08:18Fires.
08:19And an excellent look from three.
08:21That was a nice pass from Dort coming from the baseline.
08:25Did a good job of preoccupying the defense as Grant will get.
08:29The Blazers on the board.
08:31Their first buckets of the night from downtown.
08:33Down.
08:36There he's Dort on the other end.
08:38And he returns the favor with a moon ball three on the wing.
08:41Just didn't touch the rim at all.
08:44Needed permission to come down.
08:46My goodness.
08:48Where's that air trauma control on that?
08:50I mean, I'm telling you, Michael, it touches the banners up there.
08:56Here, really, in any arena in the NBA.
08:59And he lets it go.
09:01As Wallace off the turnover ran right into Obdia.
09:05He might have forced up that shot.
09:06Here come the Blazers back the other way.
09:08A drive on the baseline.
09:11Extra pass.
09:12It is Obdia.
09:13And he's a little too strong on the three.
09:17Obdia has not shot it well against the Thunder in the two matchups so far.
09:22He's got most of his points from the free throw line.
09:24As Holmgren heard the string.
09:28He's got a couple of short shots.
09:30And come up empty.
09:31Hard drive.
09:32And Obdia got all the way to the cup and blew the layup.
09:36Good job of going coast to coast real quickly with that.
09:40Nice finish by J-Dub.
09:42Second game back, folks.
09:45Missed the first 19 games.
09:47And nice rhythm there shot that we've seen so many times taking that contact.
09:53And Zabdia is going to get inside and play through the foul
09:57and get a three-point play opportunity.
10:02And this is what you would expect, Michael.
10:05Just given the pace of the Blazers.
10:09And they want to get up and down the floor.
10:10The Thunder can do it as well.
10:12And that's what they want to do.
10:13Blazers, 78% of their shots come in the deep paint, as you just saw,
10:18or from threes.
10:21They'll take a whole lot of mid-range.
10:22If you're into statistics, folks,
10:24they take about 15% of their shots in the mid-range.
10:27Not a whole lot.
10:28As J-Dub works underneath, pulls up.
10:36As you said, after the game on Friday night,
10:37still trying to get the field back.
10:40And it's just his second game of the season,
10:42but great to see him out there.
10:44His defensive intensity was fantastic.
10:46The kick out.
10:47Murray spots up.
10:48Wide open three.
10:49Not even close.
10:50He's had a couple of good looks.
10:54Didn't miss him one as well.
10:57On Grant going right back to work.
10:59Feeling like he's got the size advantage on Grant.
11:01Trying to use it.
11:03And plays through a little contact.
11:05Grant tied him up.
11:06And it's going to be a couple of free throws.
11:08That's what you call it, folks.
11:09A guy just forcing the officials to put air in that whistle.
11:12That was a good physical defense by Jeremy Grant,
11:14calling the Thunder Blair.
11:16That time, Chet has done a good job of just staying with the contact,
11:19staying with the contact.
11:20And eventually, getting the call,
11:24Thunder's first two free throws of the night.
11:28About afternoon.
11:30But it's nighttime in Oklahoma City.
11:33Early evening.
11:35Late afternoon, early evening.
11:37Blurring those lines here.
11:40Let's take a look.
11:41Today's Paris Devon injury report.
11:44And Hartenstein going to be reevaluated 10 to 14 days.
11:47Caruso out with a quad injury.
11:48But Donovan Clingon and Drew Holiday,
11:52the big names for the Blazers.
11:55Scoot Henderson and Damian Lillard,
11:57out all year.
11:59I should say,
12:00Henderson's been out all year.
12:01And Mark Dagnall knows really well what this Portland team can do,
12:09especially in this building.
12:11Tough fade away there by Obdia.
12:13Offensive rebound.
12:14Murray.
12:16Grant.
12:17Thought about the three instead.
12:18Wants to drive.
12:19Another kick out.
12:22Murray.
12:23Dumps it off.
12:24Someone's going to have to take a shot.
12:25It is Sissoko.
12:26Late shot clock no good.
12:28And it caroms to J-Dub.
12:30As the Thunder defense got stretched out.
12:32Yeah, good defense stretching them all the way to the end of that shot clock.
12:35Another long move ball, as you say, partner.
12:41Look at that.
12:42You've got to do that with that guy.
12:44You know, you really appreciate guys like that.
12:47I played with a guy like that Nate McMillan,
12:49who would always just help you out on defense.
12:50He was like such a weak side, though,
12:52and sometimes anticipating, as Wallace did,
12:56that his man got big off the dribble.
12:58He just comes over and pokes the ball away.
13:00You stop the fast break instantly like that, folks.
13:03He's just got such commitment to defense.
13:07Just play after play, as Mark Degnault says.
13:09I mean, it shows up night after night.
13:12The Blazers just continue to chuck threes.
13:14No good.
13:15Offensive rebound by Murray.
13:17Trying to use his size.
13:19Kick out.
13:19Look, there's Wallace in the vicinity.
13:21Almost got the steal.
13:23But he's the last to touch it with seven seconds on the shot clock.
13:29What about Wallace?
13:30Just look at how much space he needs up.
13:33He's really quick.
13:34That burst.
13:38Dangerous pass.
13:39Got deflected by Holmgren.
13:41So Sissoko is going to get fouled.
13:44It's Chet trying to stay vertical,
13:46despite all the speed and momentum of the drive.
13:49But he picks up his personal foul.
13:52Sometimes plays like that, you know Sissoko is out of control a little bit.
14:01Just give him a little space.
14:03Just let him stumble, stumble, and then stand your ground right there at the rim.
14:06He was able to create something out of nothing, trying to avoid another shot clock violation.
14:12He got that ball in about just under four seconds in the backcourt.
14:15So Sissoko gets the start.
14:25And it's Jay Dunn getting an opportunity now to bring the ball up the floor.
14:30Excellent playmaker.
14:31Put the moves on Murray.
14:33Nice find.
14:34It's a wide open wall.
14:35It's three in the corner.
14:37And he comes up empty.
14:38Rebound to the Blazers.
14:43They're so disciplined on the defensive end.
14:46So many different ways.
14:47They get back on defense.
14:49They don't allow a lot of offensive rebounds.
14:52Grant, and he just uses Sissoko's size.
14:54Muscled his way into the lane.
14:56Had a little bit of a mismatch, and he's got the two.
14:58He's got elevation also, too, when he gets around the rim.
15:02Late three seasons in Oklahoma City.
15:06Jay thought he got fouled.
15:08Lost the dribble.
15:09Here is Sissoko.
15:10Holgren again that time.
15:11Got the best of him getting up there for the block.
15:15Grant stripped out of bounds, and it's off of his leg.
15:19An excellent rake by Jay Dub.
15:21Very vigilant on the drive.
15:23Two really good defensive plays.
15:26Here's the first one right here.
15:27For a massive block by Chet.
15:31And they're going to call SGA for an offensive foul.
15:34Going up against one of the best charge draws in the NBA,
15:38in Tomani Kamara.
15:44Wow, that's, man, that's tough.
15:46I didn't think he really lured his shoulder.
15:48His arm stayed close to his side.
15:51Kamara did a good job of selling that.
15:54He's kind of hard to take a charge on the side of a guy.
15:59Off his three, no good.
16:01Kamara crashes in for that offensive rebound.
16:04That's what Portman likes to do, folks.
16:07Second in NBA in offensive rebound.
16:10That's going to be off the body of Murray.
16:12Another kick off the leg of a Blazers player.
16:15Off of that solid defense.
16:18Early here, folks.
16:19Almost at the midway point in the first quarter.
16:22Thunder, Blazers.
16:23It's Riverwind Casino wild card.
16:25Keys to the game.
16:26Well, how about protecting the paint?
16:27The Blazers will take 34% of their shots in that restricted area, folks.
16:32Well, this second one here is pretty good.
16:34Battle on the boards.
16:35Both teams without their big man.
16:37Blazers are really good at second chance points.
16:40And how about forcing turnovers?
16:41The Thunder have been good all season.
16:43They're number one in the NBA.
16:44They got 29 points off turnovers a couple of nights ago in that final group stage play against
16:50the Suns, closing out a 4-0 record during the quarterfinal match at home on December 10th
16:58against that same Phoenix Suns team.
17:01As you see, Thiago Splitter on the Blazers' sideline.
17:05The interim tag to take it over right before the start of the season for Chauncey Billups.
17:10And has his team definitely playing a little different style than what we would normally see.
17:17He's also the first Brazilian coach in the NBA.
17:21Won a title with the Spurs back in 2014.
17:24Played five seasons there.
17:26How about the hard drive from Jada?
17:28Putting it on the deck and getting right to the rim.
17:30I tell you, they made him work for it, too.
17:32Some good constant.
17:34Oh, man, how about the steal there?
17:37He almost pokes it away.
17:38Those little deflections, you may not get anything for it, but what happens is it stops the fast
17:44break with that tough drive.
17:46With the left hand, already had one, banked it off the glass.
17:49The left hand moments ago.
17:51It was interesting because Jada, Michael, after the game, he said, I just wanted to pass the ball to the guys who've been playing over the first 19 games of the season.
18:13It's going to take him a little bit of time to get comfortable just to get his rhythm back.
18:17What a hesitation there.
18:18SGA bouncing off of Kamara.
18:20That's a good defender, and SGA takes advantage.
18:23Great defense.
18:25Great offense.
18:29And for SGA, that is his first bucket in the game.
18:32Dangerous cross-court pass.
18:34The drive high off the window.
18:36No.
18:36Murray had an opportunity to spike it down.
18:39No one couldn't do it.
18:42As Keyson Wallace gets that ball up the floor.
18:48Ball swings down, and you get another drive from J-Dub, who's going to go to the free-throw line.
18:54You see that aggressiveness and assertiveness from Jalen Williams.
18:58This is our best defender right here in Kamara.
19:01Took the charge on Shea moments ago.
19:03Look at that ball.
19:03A little hesitation with the dribble.
19:06Stutter step.
19:08Crossover.
19:09Shall I continue?
19:10I'll just stop right there.
19:10He just hit a little mid-range.
19:11He did a whole lot.
19:12There was a whole lot of combinations on that play.
19:15Reminds me of Muhammad Ali.
19:16Just combinations.
19:18I get excited when I see that guy go to the basket.
19:21I get excited just seeing him back out there, Michael.
19:24And it's great to see him out there.
19:26And it's interesting because he said, you know, he's still trying to figure it out after the two hand surgeries.
19:31Took some time, his jump shot, dribbling, just getting the touch back.
19:37He said he's defensively, he thinks his feet's there, his win there.
19:41But trying to find a little bit of offensive rhythm.
19:45And so far, we've seen that typical Jalen Williams aggressiveness.
19:49Well, he's been out since June 23rd, folks.
19:52You know, just had his first game of the season a couple of nights ago.
19:55Still trying to get his sea legs back.
19:57Solid night, though.
19:59Very balanced level points with those eight assists.
20:04There's a turnover.
20:05Now it's Wallace weaving his way up the floor.
20:08Looks like he never had it cleanly at the last moment.
20:11And turns it over.
20:13And here come the Blazers.
20:14This is what you would expect.
20:15Shea trying to slow down the ball.
20:16Everybody collapses on Avdia.
20:18And he can't even get the ball up to the rim.
20:20Yeah, he just kind of ran into nowhere.
20:24Ice pass inside.
20:26J-Dub got caught in the air.
20:29Never had the angle.
20:30And the player going to be fortunate to retain.
20:32How about them?
20:33You know, we talked about the Blazers.
20:35They turned the ball over.
20:36One way to stop them is areas like this, folks.
20:39Look at all the sunset shirts around Avdia on that drive to the bench.
20:44Four guys in the paint.
20:45That's a transition.
20:46He had nowhere to go.
20:50Both these teams operating very quickly, particularly off misses.
20:56As J-Will in the game the first time, recognizes, got a little bit of space.
21:01And there's another mid-range shot from J-Will, Michael.
21:04He had a huge late shot against Phoenix on Friday.
21:09I'm loving it, too, because they know he can shoot the three.
21:11And he'll give it to them.
21:12How about this?
21:12The Thunder continue to turn over the Blazers.
21:14We talked about that as one of the keys to the game just now, folks.
21:19Isaiah Joe makes sure the feet are behind the three-point line.
21:23And he can't connect.
21:24Blazers are doing a good job on offensive glass, which was advertised as well.
21:28Thunder doing a really good job on the turnovers.
21:31Deep catch.
21:33And Reid missed it.
21:34He had the size advantage.
21:36Might have rushed the turnaround shot a little bit.
21:38And Shea able to pass out to the perimeter.
21:41There is J-Will.
21:42Can't make it two in a row.
21:46As Atiyah crancing up the floor behind the back pass.
21:50And the results in a transition jam by Robert Williams III.
21:56He didn't play in game two between these teams.
21:59Tied up at 14.
22:00Mark Dagnall going to call the timeout.
22:02Portland, Oregon for the Sunday afternoon matchup between the Blazers and the Thunder doing battle here in the first quarter.
22:10And Jalen Williams, J-Dub off to a strong start in this game here today.
22:14Already six points in this matchup.
22:16And this is just his second game playing this season.
22:18Last game on Friday against the Phoenix Suns was his season debut.
22:21And in that game, he put up 11 points.
22:24Also had eight assists.
22:25And after that game, Thunder head coach Mark Dagnall said that was a really good start to the season for J-Dub.
22:30And he just played the right way.
22:32A really good piece of context here is that the last time that J-Dub played in a game was game seven of the NBA Finals.
22:38Which was five months ago.
22:39So he said it's going to take some time for him to get his full rhythm and touch back offensively.
22:43But he said in the meantime, he can always play hard on defense and offensively.
22:47He's focused on just continuing to try to fit in, find his cuts, and take what the defense gives him, guys.
22:52All right, thank you, Paris.
22:53Certainly going to be an acclimation period.
22:55And there is Isaiah Joe.
22:56He does not need an introduction as he showcases that stroke.
23:00And you see the footwork?
23:01Wow.
23:01As Reed flew by, did a nice little tap dance to the side.
23:07And found nothing but the center of the net.
23:10What a pretty shot that was, folks.
23:11Good to see him out there.
23:12Good to see Aaron Wiggins out there.
23:14There was a Portland turnover.
23:15And you see the pressure defense, Michael, all up on Jeremy Grant.
23:20Watch that footwork.
23:21Young players watch him.
23:22Footwork.
23:23He didn't just step forward and allow Reed to get back into play.
23:26Man, he created some separation on that shot.
23:28So light on his feet.
23:31Ooh, a feather just dancing out there.
23:33Another three.
23:34And another make from Joe on the outside.
23:36Back-to-back trays.
23:38You know, the key to that play was Shea.
23:39The reigning MVP recognizing he had two, a double team, two players went over with him.
23:44In that situation, he certainly knows what to do.
23:51And there is Isaiah Joe on the glass.
23:53That was a good box out.
23:54And Joe knows that whenever his man goes over the double, just stay away from Shea.
23:57Look at the double team here again.
23:59And the ball moving once again is pretty solid from the Thunder.
24:02You'll miss that shot, but that's going to wear the Blazers down over the next three quarters and some change.
24:09Just really good recognition from Shea when that double team came over, Michael, to get rid of the ball quickly.
24:16Grant.
24:18He got caught in there, had nowhere to go, and couldn't get it up to the rim.
24:21Great defense again by the Thunder.
24:25That was fantastic, Joe.
24:27Another three.
24:28This time, he'll try the other side of the floor as Joe is on fire here in the first quarter with his third three.
24:35Well, what's happening is the double team is Shea, and they're double teaming him whenever he has the basketball.
24:40Shea acting like, you know, I don't see Isaiah Joe out of the corner of my eye.
24:43He's hotter than the month of July.
24:44I'm just going to ignore that and pour some cold water.
24:46No, folks.
24:47He gave up the rock three straight times.
24:50And take a look at this, partner.
24:52It's just remarkable, Michael, because you double team SGA, it's going to leave somebody open.
24:58And the Thunder have absolutely no problem at all if Isaiah Joe is the guy who's open.
25:04Well, two things here.
25:05That's a whole lot of respect for the reigning MVP.
25:07You've got to double team, get the ball out of his hand.
25:09They're trying to do that.
25:10But also, Isaiah Joe's recognizing that I've got to stay away from Shea at all costs.
25:16Whenever he has the basketball and he's being double teamed, he gets away from him and makes himself available.
25:21Let's check in with Nick.
25:22Well, guys, this ability to play out of double teams is one of Shea's best qualities now as a playmaker, according to Mark Dignall.
25:29But the ironic thing is this is something that's been in process for years.
25:33You all may remember that game the Thunder had up in Toronto a few years ago.
25:37It's the first time this team really saw hard double teams being thrown at Shea.
25:41And it took almost three quarters for the Thunder to even kind of grasp how to play out of that.
25:47Well, year after year, Shea and this team have refined their ability to play out of those situations.
25:52And his recognition of when the doubles are coming, where they're coming from,
25:55and the team's ability to play four on three on the backside out of that has improved.
26:00So just a great marker of how this team is using the lessons from previous years to build upon themselves this season.
26:06And it's so true because you would hear Mark Dignall after game say,
26:11we want to see those exotic defenses.
26:13We want to see teams throw the kitchen sink at SGA.
26:16And it was so important, Michael, because it was all part of his development as Love,
26:20a tough, contested shot coming out of the timeout over the outstretched Armour Mitchell.
26:26Did a good job of getting that shot off, as you mentioned, with a hand in his face.
26:30SGA will hand it off.
26:35That's going to be an offensive foul.
26:38A little too much contact on that moving screen.
26:42But if you're the Thunder, you want to see defenses, Mike, do everything they possibly can,
26:48whether that's get the ball out of the hands of SGA or draw up something that you haven't seen before.
26:53Mark Dignall has always been one of those coaches that says,
26:56Hey, we want to see it in the regular season, so we're not surprised in the postseason.
26:59Yeah, they've done a lot of them in these first 21 games.
27:06Ice tap.
27:08Williams missed the initial redirect.
27:11That's four points coming out of the timeout.
27:14As Shea is going to get fouled.
27:16And he's going to say, no shot.
27:18He's going to say, on the deck, it's going to be Jeremy Grant.
27:22That was close.
27:23Man, that was close.
27:26This guy, he is a scoring savant, folks.
27:30Just beautiful to watch.
27:32You've got to pick your poison with him.
27:33You double team him?
27:34He's going to give it up.
27:35He trusts his teammates.
27:37You let him play one-on-one?
27:39Good luck with that.
27:41Now he wants to step back three.
27:43Missed it wide right.
27:44J. Will vacated that spot.
27:49And he'll go back to Portland.
27:53With under a minute to go in the first quarter.
27:58Thunder defense has limited the Blazers to 29% shooting up to this point.
28:06Quick drive.
28:08Snaps it.
28:08Repair.
28:09Same exact spot that he made his first three.
28:11Not that time.
28:12Thunder can go two for one here.
28:14Depending on the speed of this possession.
28:17Joe.
28:19A little too much clock run.
28:21As SGA matched up.
28:23Keeping the dribble alive.
28:24Nice spin move.
28:25Split defenders.
28:26Offensive rebound.
28:27J. Will not going to get that one to go.
28:30But he will get free throws.
28:32And they missed several fouls on Shea on that play.
28:34Man, he got hammered twice.
28:36Still was able to get the shot off.
28:38J. Will just standing right there.
28:41As that weak side guy came over to help out.
28:44He got the offensive rebound.
28:50Check out the Mid First Bank Hoops game for monthly chances to win a $50 Mid First Bank gift card and a simple modern water bottle.
28:57One lucky grand prize winner will win courtside tickets for next season.
29:01Played today in the official Thunder Mobile app.
29:03J. Will splits the pair.
29:13And what should be now the last possession of the first quarter.
29:16A.J. Mitchell.
29:20Pressure on Obtia.
29:21They want the double team up top.
29:23Grant.
29:24Two seconds.
29:26And Wiggins commits the foul.
29:28The Thunder did have a foul to give.
29:30So not the worst thing in the world.
29:31And he fouled him too before he got that shot up too.
29:35On the ground.
29:36And all of a sudden.
29:371.2 tenths of a second remaining for the Blazers.
29:41Whoever guy catches this has to take that shot.
29:43So good job by the Thunder defense just to shorten that in the quarter clock for the Blazers.
29:52Going to leave the inbounder open and sharp.
29:55Trying to double team.
29:56Up top.
29:57Top three.
29:59Short.
30:00Out of the hands of Love.
30:04So the Thunder defense being felt in that first quarter, Michael.
30:09They really limited the Blazers offensively.
30:11Well, they did a good job of turning them over.
30:14And made some nice little slicing and dicing to the basket.
30:18As we've got 12 minutes in the books here, folks.
30:21From the Motor Center.
30:22Sports Network is brought to you by the all-new Alexa Plus.
30:30All blown up.
30:31The sun is shining here in downtown Portland.
30:35Final day of November.
30:37As we look at our first quarter stats, that field goal percentage by 26%.
30:42The Blazers didn't get anything going on the offensive end.
30:45And he'd hold them under 20 points.
30:47Well, you're liking that, too.
30:48Because the Blazers got some fresh legs here, too.
30:52And played since last Wednesday, folks.
30:55Yang, the big fella, trying to go to work on Holmgren, who did a good job of being physical and not fouling.
31:04Two steps like a long evergreen tree.
31:08And that's a long two for Chad Holmgren.
31:09And Yang got held up in traffic in that painted area.
31:15Man, you can tell they went right at him on the first possession of this second quarter for the Blazers.
31:21They're not afraid to give it to him in the post either, which is something that we saw last Sunday.
31:25That was a line drive three from Jeremy Grant.
31:28And there was basically the opposite of what you would get from Lewdorff.
31:31Yeah, absolutely.
31:32It was a catch and shoot also.
31:33He just caught that thing quickly, almost in one motion.
31:39Holmgren squares up.
31:40Didn't know that Murray was there.
31:41He had the strip.
31:43Quick drive the other way.
31:44And the transition layup for Shannon Sharp.
31:48And Sharp has his first points of the game.
31:51Quick shot back the other way.
31:54It is Wiggins.
31:55And welcome back into the lineup, Aaron Wiggins.
31:57That quick shot in transition, not allowing the Blazers to set up their defense.
32:04Grant underneath as Murray along that baseline.
32:11Shannon Sharp behind his back.
32:13Trying to shed Kenrich Williams.
32:14A Thunder defense doing a lot of work here.
32:17Yang, back iron, no good.
32:19With all those drives, Michael, from the Blazers, it puts a ton of pressure on your defense.
32:24But so far, the Thunder have been able to handle it.
32:26As Mitchell is going to take the bump and get two free throws.
32:31Take a look at this, folks.
32:33Made bucket.
32:34You talked about the three by Jeremy Grant.
32:36How about this transition three by Mr. Wiggins?
32:39First game back.
32:40After a little bit of an absence, I'll tell you, he's got such a nice, smooth, relaxed stroke.
32:48My, when I shot the threes, the few that I shot in all fields, they were kind of hard.
32:55They weren't smooth in it, but.
32:57Nothing soft about it.
32:58Let's check in with Paris.
32:59Well, guys, you mentioned Aaron Wiggins returning to the lineup after missing the last 11 games with an adductor injury.
33:04Coach Dagnall told me before the game that it's great to have Wiggs back because he helps a lot on both ends of the floor.
33:09He's one of those guys, he glues things together offensively, great movement, spacing.
33:13But he also told me that Wiggins has really quietly improved defensively as well.
33:17He's really physical on the ball.
33:18Really important steps forward for him this season on both ends of the floor, guys.
33:22Yeah, just incredibly versatile as we have seen over the course of his career.
33:25That deflection goes right back out to Grant.
33:28That's going to be way too strong on the three.
33:31And Kenridge did a good job of not allowing Sharp to get that offensive rebound.
33:33There is Wiggins on the release.
33:35Dumps it off.
33:36Holgrant's got the stuff in transition.
33:40Is this NFL Sunday?
33:41It sure is.
33:42I just saw a beautiful over-the-top pass by QB.
33:49That's a nice drive inside by Love.
33:52He's provided some offense off the bench for this Blazers team.
33:56That's one thing that Thiago Splitter does.
33:58He's going to play a ton of guys.
34:00Not necessarily long stints.
34:02As Holmgren.
34:04He just can't get that short shot just right at the restricted area to go down.
34:09Sharp.
34:11Off the screen.
34:12Has the three.
34:13On the screen!
34:14It's kind of been the Blazers' offense so far in this first half.
34:20Quick shots.
34:22They've done a good job of covering them when they move it around.
34:27Chad fortunate to retain.
34:29The Thunder just keep sending guys to the middle of the floor to try to break that zone.
34:32And it leaves Wiggins open for the three.
34:35No good.
34:36Hitchell almost had to steal.
34:38Big body screen you see from Yang as Mitchell heavy pressure out on the perimeter.
34:48Grant dribbling.
34:51Yang inside being hounded.
34:54Wiggins trying to get that jump wall.
34:57And they're going to call a foul.
34:58You can't call a foul on that.
35:00My goodness.
35:00He brought the ball down.
35:02He's reaching to grab it.
35:03That's a bailout call.
35:06Take a look at this.
35:07He's got a whole ball.
35:08He's just missed it that time.
35:09He stripped it again.
35:13Man.
35:14Wish I could get that call when I play.
35:17I'd have more free throws.
35:18Maybe even a three.
35:21I don't know.
35:22That's asking a little too much.
35:23Okay, all right.
35:24You're right.
35:24We'll stick to the free throw.
35:27But a three is a little too much to ask, Mike.
35:30I'm reaching.
35:31I've got you.
35:33Love coming in and giving us some spark off the bench.
35:37He's got seven for the Blazers.
35:39In a career game against Golden State a little over a week ago.
35:42Palm Grid can't bring it down.
35:45That's in all kinds of traffic.
35:47Blazers, they are very good at turning teams over as well.
35:51Not just the Thunder.
35:53Love, again, kept his footing.
35:55Yang, always thinking about it.
35:57He'll let it go.
36:00He just thought a little bit too much.
36:02Too much.
36:04You know, I was always taught and told.
36:06You can't think and shoot at the same time.
36:08You've got to do one or the other.
36:10He did both.
36:11He got...
36:12He had too much time, Mike.
36:15He did too.
36:16Should I take this or should I not?
36:21There's another turnover.
36:22Back-to-back turnovers.
36:23Yang bringing it up the floor.
36:25Keeping the dribble alive.
36:28That's Murray.
36:29Drives, kicks, breakdown on defense.
36:31Mark Dagnall ready to call the timeout.
36:33And he's going to call the timeout anyway.
36:34The shot didn't go in, but Mark Dagnall had seen enough.
36:40Trying to settle things down here early minutes in the second quarter.
36:43And the Atlanta Hawks continue to play well even without Trae Young,
36:46who's going to be re-evaluated in two weeks with that MCL injury.
36:51Atlanta's 12-8.
36:52Cooper Flagg, second player since LeBron to score 30-plus at age 18.
36:57The Mavs took down the Clippers in Los Angeles.
37:00Kind of an impressive game for Dallas.
37:02As Cooper Flagg up right spot in what it's been a dark season for Dallas.
37:06The game earlier today, Michael, we're not the only matinee.
37:09Houston over Utah, 129-101.
37:12Kevin Durant, Alfred Shedgood.
37:14They combined for 52 points.
37:16And we thought that Houston would be good coming into this year.
37:19And the Rockets are good.
37:20They won three in a row, and they're third in the Western Conference right now
37:23in 13-4.
37:23About the impressive numbers by Cooper Flagg.
37:27Let me elaborate on that for a moment.
37:30First guy since LeBron James to score 35 points.
37:34Being that young, it's quite impressive.
37:37Big part of why Dallas was able to come out with that win.
37:40How about J-Dub getting all the way to the rim?
37:41And Chet Holgren, a little offensive rebound of his own.
37:45So many guys went over to stop J-Dub on the drive.
37:48And Chet just grabbed it, put it back in the basket.
37:54Wiggins.
37:56Good job, not fouling, but Murray squeezing through a couple of defenders.
38:00And somehow, still, despite Holgren in the vicinity, got it up and in.
38:04I don't know, I think he had his eyes closed when he went up in the air.
38:08Good finish.
38:10The twin brother of Keegan Murray.
38:12Also, NBA player with the Kings.
38:17A.J. Mitchell had a look at the three.
38:19Not able to convert.
38:20And what is a two-point game.
38:24Not yet to the midway point of the second.
38:27Lazers just driving.
38:31Dishing.
38:32And another pretty reverse.
38:35Murray usually expected to just kind of plan out the three-point line,
38:39but he's got back-to-back scores right at the rim.
38:46J-Dub outside.
38:47It's Kenrich-Williams.
38:48And that three is down.
38:50And Kenrich-Williams provides some scoring off the bench.
38:54Thunder player returning to duty this week.
38:57We get a mass hockey substitution here for Mark Dagnall.
39:08You got four out and four in.
39:11That is what we'll go the whole five.
39:15How about this?
39:16Nice hard drive.
39:17Collapse in the defense.
39:18J-Dub.
39:19That's why he is so good with the basketball and finding his teammates.
39:22Eight assists.
39:24His season debut a couple nights ago against the Suns.
39:27Love's three is off.
39:30And Dort, good job.
39:32Selecting that rebound.
39:33Getting the outlet past SGA.
39:34He's got some speed.
39:37He's in that zone.
39:38Goes to work on Ogdia.
39:40And it's going to be an and one.
39:42And SGA, too much offense.
39:45Key to that play.
39:46Quick strike.
39:48Shea got the ball in the box.
39:49Didn't wait for the double team.
39:51Take a look at this.
39:53Not quite on the box, but in the lane.
39:57Then he can do nothing to set.
40:00You know, that's how a lot of defenders feel.
40:03Just can't stop him.
40:05He's got so much, so many combinations off of one play.
40:09Probably not a good idea either to get handsy with SGA.
40:13Which is exactly what Ogdia did.
40:17SGA misses the free throw.
40:19Very quiet first quarter.
40:22And first half for him.
40:23As Kamara, a little bit of space there.
40:26Drains the three.
40:27Come down.
40:28So this Blazers team grinding it out here with OKC as, once again, SGA got down low.
40:40All the way to the cup.
40:41Not able to score.
40:42Kamara trying to get the Blazers the lead.
40:46And Murray missed time to jump.
40:47I'll tell you, Shea has so many guys chasing him with the basketball.
40:54And he got caught in the air.
40:56Nobody was there as he left his feet.
40:59Ogdia shut off nicely by J. Will.
41:01And that pass too wide as Kamara was getting ready to unload a three.
41:08Turnover by the Blazers.
41:09Loaded up really good defensively.
41:12In transition.
41:14Wow, that is a foul and a hard one on Sissoko.
41:17I don't know if his teammates gave him any help whatsoever, Mike, because J. Will came over.
41:22He was ready for the body blown.
41:24Sissoko plowed right through him.
41:26Yeah, well, that's on your teammates to call out that screen.
41:29And he just basically wiped out J. Will on this play.
41:33Just, oh, drug him down.
41:37That's got to be your worst nightmare.
41:40Now, when did this foul occur?
41:41Was this in the way for the play foul?
41:43Or was the ball inbound?
41:45That's a good question.
41:46That's what the officials are discussing right now.
41:48I believe it might be on Sissoko.
41:52And they've got to give it an extra look.
41:56Sissoko once again.
41:59Just kind of bear-hugging a player.
42:01Did it to J. Will.
42:04And now S. G. A.
42:08Want to check for all-ball timing foul?
42:13And, of course, the league instituted this rule years ago, Michael, to prevent
42:17ball from him.
42:19Guys from basically just committing fouls before the ball got inbounded to preserve clock.
42:25But, Dork getting the ball in and...
42:28Oh, that's going to be...
42:29Yeah, that should be an away from the play foul.
42:31Yeah.
42:31That'll be one free throw in the basketball for OKC.
