00:00Will Smith and Snapchat are bringing self-isolation to the public.
00:04In the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic, the actor and musician partnered up with a social platform for a brand new Snapchat original titled Will From Home.
00:12The series, which dropped on the platform Friday morning, will feature Smith over the course of 12 episodes hanging out in his garage and talking to his family, special guests, and everyday people who are also practicing social distancing by staying at home.
00:25Sean Mills, Snapchat head of original content, spoke out saying the idea for the series stemmed from conversations with the actor about how the constraints imposed by the global shutdown could spark, quote, new forms of creativity and new ways to tell stories.
00:38Will From Home is part of Snapchat's response to the pandemic.
00:41The app's Discover platform now has a dedicated section for coronavirus-related news and updates from partners including CNN, NBC News, and The Wall Street Journal.
00:49But according to Mills, Snapchat users also had an interest in entertainment content, especially humor and comedy, adding,
00:56The kinds of things that the community wants are things that are positive, that feel empowering.
01:00It's not just about escapism, but it's about actually what is the good that can come of a challenging moment in time.
01:06Will From Home fits perfectly with that.
01:08Smith, who is active across all social media, including Instagram and YouTube, has made shows for several platforms, including Jumping Out of a Helicopter Live on YouTube, and starring in Will Smith's bucket list for Facebook.
01:19Smith is also set to produce a stand-up comedy show, This Joka, for Quibi.
