Amid talks that Melissa McCarthy will take on the role of Ursula in Disney's live-action 'Little Mermaid,' the actress poked fun at the rumors during her Monday night appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

00:15The actress is currently in talks to play Ursula in Disney's upcoming live-action

00:18remake of The Little Mermaid, and McCarthy was pretty slick when addressing the

00:22rumors head-on during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night.

00:25When the late-night host started questioning her on potentially playing

00:28Disney's notorious sea villain, McCarthy wasn't giving anything away.

00:32You hadn't heard that, really.

00:34It seems like it would be an awfully fun thing to do.

00:37Oh, I'd love if Disney gave me a little ringy-dingy.

00:41But then she all but confirmed the news with a little tease towards the camera.

00:45We'll see.

00:49The actress went on to explain that the role would suit her because she's actually

00:52really familiar with the original movie from the amount of times she's watched

00:55the film back in the day during her years as a nanny.

00:58In fact, McCarthy says she watched it every single night for about a year and a half

01:02while babysitting.

01:03The pic is the next in line in Disney's push to remake classic animated movies into

01:07live-action features following adaptations of Aladdin and The Lion King.

01:11The animated movie tells the tale of a mermaid named Ariel who yearns to be human after

01:15she falls in love with a prince. Ariel makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula

01:19who grants her wish but takes her voice.

01:21Halle Bailey, one half of R&B's sister duo Chloe and Halle, nab the starring role of Ariel.

01:26Meanwhile, it's said that Harry Styles is in early negotiations to play the role of Prince Eric.

01:31Javier Bardem is also in talks to take on the role of King Triton, Ariel's father.

01:35Other stars in negotiations are Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina who are set to lend their voices to

01:40other live-action and CG parts.
