00:00"...should Gretchen and Regina resign?"
00:02"...absolutely yes, and the boys."
00:05Former Miss Americas are calling for Chairman Gretchen Carlson to resign, following current
00:10Miss America Cara Mundt's claims that she has been bullied, manipulated and silenced
00:15by Carlson and Miss America CEO Regina Hopper.
00:18In a five-page letter, Mundt cited examples of alleged mistreatment, including being excluded
00:24from the nationally televised announcement that swimsuits will be eliminated from the
00:28competition.
00:29Carlson denied the allegations in a statement, writing,
00:32"...I want to be clear that I never bullied or silenced you.
00:35In fact, I acknowledge to you and your parents many times that the organization understands
00:40the frustrations of serving during such a change-filled and stressful year.
00:45We've acknowledged your grievances and taken many steps to try to make your experience
00:49a good one."
00:50On Monday, former Miss America Suzette Charles and Heather Whitestone visited Megyn Kelly
00:54today to discuss the allegations.
00:56Charles said she was not surprised by Mundt's letter, claiming that many Miss America organization
01:01employees have resigned due to Carlson's bullying.
01:04This person has taken no responsibility for the way she's treated our current Miss America.
01:09Charles also said for Cara Mundt to write a five-page letter explaining through her year
01:14how she's been treated is appalling.
01:16And on Good Morning America, former Miss America Caressa Cameron Jackson spoke about the need
01:21for the entire board, though specifically Carlson, to resign.
01:24"...All of the leadership to include the board of directors is complicit in this.
01:28And in order for us to move forward and to actually heal, we need to do the right thing right now."
01:33She added, "...so that we can move on and focus on who's going to be crowned Miss America."
01:37The upcoming Miss America competition is set for September 9th.
01:40In Carlson's response to Mundt, she also said that the foundation had lost $75,000 in scholarships,
01:47in response to the current Miss America's allegations, saying,
01:50"...the impact won't stop there."
01:52This was Cameron Jackson's response to Carlson's statement.
01:55We are not going to do the victim-shaming here.
01:57I'm sure she didn't want that when she was part of the Me Too movement.
02:01She continued,
02:02"...I think that the sponsorships will return when they see that we are willing to do the right thing."
