00:15Allen and Alex Stokes, 23, of Irvine, were each charged with one felony count of false
00:20imprisonment affected by violence, menace, fraud, or deceit, and one misdemeanor count of falsely
00:25reporting an emergency, according to authorities. The pair each face a maximum sentence of
00:29four years in state prison if convicted on all counts. The charges stem from two October 2019
00:35pranks in which the brothers pretended they robbed a bank and were trying to make a getaway by asking
00:40unsuspecting people for clothing items or help with transportation. The video, which has since been
00:46made private, has more than 1.4 million views, with the brothers' channel having more than 4.8
00:51million subscribers. Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement,
00:56These were not pranks. These are crimes that could have resulted in someone getting seriously injured
01:00or even killed. Many bystanders called police when they witnessed the brothers running around,
01:05and officers arriving were taped and added to the YouTube video.
