00:00Adult Swim has cut ties with Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland in the wake of the
00:04news that he was charged with felony domestic abuse. Adult Swim distributes Rick and Morty,
00:09the hit adult animation comedy that Roiland co-created and executive produced. He also
00:14voiced both Rick and Morty. Adult Swim isn't even halfway through a massive 70-episode order for
00:20the show commissioned by the channel in 2018. Sources say Rick and Morty is set to continue
00:25with Roiland's voice roles to be recast. Though Roiland will always be credited as co-creator,
00:30fellow co-creator Dan Harmon will now be the lone showrunner. The show is locked in through season
00:3510. Hulu has also removed Roiland from its series Solar Opposites and Koala Man. And 20th Television
00:41Animation, where Roiland had an overall deal and which produces both series, has cut ties with him.
00:47On January 12th, NBC News was the first to break the story that Roiland was charged with one count
00:53of domestic battery with corporal injury and one count of false imprisonment by menace, violence,
00:58fraud, or deceit in Orange County based on an alleged 2020 incident with an unnamed Jane Doe
01:04that Roiland was dating. Roiland has pled not guilty and in 2020 was released on a $50,000 bond.
01:10Several pre-trial hearings have already occurred and Roiland is expected to return to court on
01:15April 27th. In a statement earlier this month, Roiland's attorney said the media coverage of the
01:19case has been quote inaccurate. He added, to be clear, not only is Justin innocent, but we also
01:25have every expectation that this matter is on course to be dismissed once the district attorney's
01:30office has completed its methodical review of the evidence. For more on this story, go to THR.com.
