Julia Newmar was my very first Freudian Object of Erotic Interest and remains so to this day, my love and lust for her only grows. It began 1963 watching Twilight Zone on my family's black and white television. Rod Sirling's tale that night featured the devil. Strangely, I was enamored with the devil. The next year I turned 10 years old. Watching the tube I became enthralled by the female android on "My Living Doll." My eyes were glued on those long naked legs wearing nothing but a bath towel. She was controlled by an ignorant man who's purpose was to make her behave human. The robot was a secret weapon invented by the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Bob McDonald, a psychiatrist, is to teach the robot, AF 709 now named Rhoda, how to blend in with human society. Bob's efforts are to teach Rhoda how to be "the perfect woman,' which he defines as one who "does what she is told" and does not "talk back." Every episode Rhoda is a better and more intelligent human than Bob. Watching that character touched my prepubescent feminism and sparked my prepubescent testosterone. Two years later she popped up as the greatest ever Catwoman on Batman. Her works on the stage are even more impressive.
