00:00Use the false, Luke. And get Trump off Twitter.
00:04Alright, it's true. A crowdfunding campaign was recently started to purchase Twitter
00:08for the sole purpose of banning President Donald Trump from the platform
00:12and none other than Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, said he donated
00:16to the GoFundMe cause. The actor tweeted,
00:26Now, the whole notion is satirical, which the Star Wars icon pointed out to his fans,
00:29but the fact remains the campaign so far has collected more than $80,000.
00:33Its goal is a billion, so yeah, there's a ways to go.
00:37The campaign was started by Valerie Plame Wilson of Santa Fe, New Mexico,
00:41who said Trump's use of Twitter is now a matter of life and death,
00:45given the powers of the presidency. Wilson is a former CIA member
00:49who focused on nuclear proliferation issues. Said Wilson on the campaign page,
00:53If we hit this goal, we'll use it to become Twitter's single biggest shareholder
00:59and leverage that position to enforce its rules against violent threats,
01:03intimidation and hate speech, and shut down Trump for good.
01:07Hamill, star of the upcoming and highly anticipated The Last Jedi,
01:11is a long-time and outspoken critic of Trump.
01:13He also tends to read the president's tweets in the voice of the Joker.
01:17So what's your take on by Twitter? Are you Team Skywalker? Let me know in the comments.
01:23For The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm not the Joker or Mark Hamill. I'm Paul Costabile. See you guys.
01:29We'll see you next time.
