00:00On Sunday, Alec Baldwin continued to defend and battle director Woody Allen, who has been
00:05accused of sexual abuse by adopted daughter Dylan Farrow. Baldwin has previously called
00:09her allegations unfair and sad. On Sunday, he took it a step further and compared
00:13Dylan Farrow to Mayelle Yule, the character in the classic novel To Kill a Mockingbird,
00:17who falsely accuses an African-American man of rape. The actor tweeted,
00:21"...one of the most effective things Dylan Farrow has in her arsenal is the persistence
00:25of emotion. Like Mayelle are in To Kill a Mockingbird, her tears and exhortations are
00:30meant to shame you into belief in her story. But I need more than that before I destroy
00:34someone, regardless of their fame. I need a lot more." Baldwin followed that post with this,
00:39"...to say that Dylan Farrow is telling the truth is to say that brother Moses Farrow is lying.
00:44Which of me as kids got the honesty gene, and which did not." In addition, he shared a Sunday
00:48New York Times piece that discussed whether Allen would work in the business again.
00:52Baldwin concluded with,
00:53"...if my defense of Woody Allen offends you, it's real simple. Unfollow. Condemn. Move on."
00:57Dylan Farrow responded to Baldwin's comments with a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday.
01:02It's interesting that Mr. Baldwin chooses to dismiss the judgments of Justice Wilk
01:06and Prosecutor Frank Mako, who reviewed all of the evidence instead of just selected bits
01:10and pieces, she said in her statement. However, considering that Mr. Baldwin confidently
01:15invoked Mayelle Yule to make his point while forgetting that it's been hotly debated that
01:19she was, in fact, raped by her father, demonstrates that perhaps Baldwin is just not a stickler for details.
01:25Moses Farrow claims the abuse allegations are false. Allen has always maintained his innocence
01:29and said the story of abuse was planted in Dylan's mind by his ex-wife Mia Farrow.
01:34In a series of tweets posted Tuesday, Baldwin praised the director and also cast doubt on
01:38Dylan Farrow's allegations, writing,
01:40The actor previously stated that, in his opinion, sexual abuse complaints should never be dismissed,
01:58but, he says, accusations should also be treated carefully. Baldwin tweeted,
