Michael Schur, an outspoken critic of the gun lobby, demanded the removal of a meme featuring Amy Poehler's character.
Transcript
00:00Do you guys want to stop mentally insane individuals from getting firearms?
00:05Parks and Recreation creator Michael Schauer was less than impressed with the NRA sharing
00:09a gif from his show on its official Twitter account on Wednesday night and was quick to
00:13demand the gun group take it down as he didn't want parks used to promote a pro-slaughter agenda.
00:18Following NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch's appearance on the CNN town hall debating gun control in the
00:24wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting, the NRA tweeted a thank you tweet
00:28featuring Amy Poehler's Parks and Rec character Leslie Knope giving a thumbs up.
00:32Schauer, whose Twitter handle is Ken Tremendous, tweeted back that the gun lobby should take
00:36down the tweet as he would prefer you not use a gif from a show I worked on to promote your
00:41pro-slaughter agenda. He added,
00:43Nick Offerman, who played Ron Swanson on Parks and Rec, later echoed Schauer's demand that the NRA
00:54take down their tweet, writing that Leslie Knope represents the opposite of your pro-slaughter
00:59agenda. The actor added,
01:01Take it down and please eat.
01:03I'm just going to stay angry. I find that relaxes me.
01:06Adam Scott, aka Ben White, on the series chimed in with this,
01:10Hey NRA, please stay the f*** away from Leslie Knope.
01:13Meanwhile, following the CNN town hall, Loesch made an unscheduled appearance at the
01:17conservative political action conference Thursday morning.
01:19Addressing the television media set up in the back of the room, Loesch said,
01:23Many in legacy media love mass shootings. You guys love it.
01:26Loesch, who was applauded by some for appearing in the town hall and booed by others for her
01:30performance, then clarified her comment. I'm not saying that you love the tragedy,
01:34she told the crowd on Thursday. I'm saying you love the ratings.
01:38Speaking on behalf of the NRA, Loesch said,
01:40We will not be gaslighted into thinking we're responsible for a tragedy we had nothing to do with.
01:44She received a hero's applause from the crowd and said that journalists should feel free to come
01:48accost her in the hallway at the conference.
01:51I'm here, we're here, we're not going anywhere, she said.
