Janet Jackson became just the seventh artist ever to receive the Billboard Music Awards’ Icon Award, accepting the honor Sunday night live on NBC at the MGM Garden Grand Arena.

00:10accepting the honor Sunday night live on NBC at the MGM Garden Grand Arena.
00:15After a career-spanning introduction from Bruno Mars, she performed on television for the first time in nine years,
00:23giving the Las Vegas crowd a medley of hits, including top ten classics If and Nasty.
00:30But Nasty.
00:32Certainly deserving of the Icon Award, Janet has charted 27 top ten singles in her career, including ten number one hits.
00:41She's also one of only four acts to have a number one album in each of the last four decades.
00:48With the crowd chanting her name, Janet took the opportunity to deliver a message of feminist hope.
00:53At long last, women have made it clear that we will no longer be controlled,
00:59manipulated, or abused.
