00:00A new delegation chief for high-stakes talks.
00:04Security Council Secretary Rustem Yomorov is now leading the Ukrainian team heading to
00:08the US for discussions on a peace deal that Washington is aiming to broker between Kyiv
00:13and Moscow.
00:15It comes after the resignation of Andrea Mack, President Zelensky's right-hand man, who stepped
00:20down hours after anti-corruption investigators raided his home.
00:25On Sunday, Yomorov and his team will meet with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and
00:29Special Envoy Steve Wyckoff.
00:32Zelensky insists he's confident that a deal is on the horizon.
00:36Diplomacy remains active.
00:40The American side is being constructive and it is quite realistic to finalise steps in
00:45the coming days to determine how to end the war with dignity.
00:49The Ukrainian delegation has the necessary directives.
00:53Others, however, are more sceptical, including this former diplomat.
01:04President Vladimir Putin has already said several times that he doesn't want to sign any agreement
01:08whatsoever, whether it's a ceasefire, a peace agreement or any other kind of agreement.
01:14We are far from reaching any kind of agreement.
01:17He doesn't want to sign with Zelensky because he considers him illegitimate.
01:24After meeting the Ukrainian officials, Wyckoff is due to travel to Russia next week to meet
01:29with President Vladimir Putin.
01:31Over in Europe, President Emmanuel Macron will hold discussions with Zelensky in Paris on Monday.
01:37According to the French presidency, the two leaders will talk about the conditions for
01:41a just and lasting peace.
