00:00Stormy Daniels was arrested in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday night while performing an
00:03act at a local strip club, with her lawyer Michael Avenatti calling the arrest a set-up
00:07on Twitter. Franklin County jail officials confirmed to the Associated Press that
00:11Stephanie Clifford, aka Daniels, was released on $6,000 bond around 6 a.m. on Thursday.
00:16Daniels is set for a Friday arraignment on three misdemeanor counts of touching a
00:20patron at a sexually-oriented business, and Ohio strip club law prohibits anyone who
00:24isn't a family member to touch a nude or semi-nude dancer. Avenatti took to Twitter
00:28Wednesday night, writing,
00:45The attorney later claimed that she was arrested for allowing a customer to touch her
00:48onstage in a non-sexual manner. He wrote,
00:58Avenatti also added that he expected Daniels would be charged with a misdemeanor and that
01:04he expected to pay bail to be removed from custody. Daniels gained notoriety in January when
01:09The Wall Street Journal reported that Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen had paid the
01:12adult film actress $130,000 to keep quiet about an alleged affair in 2006. In February,
01:19Cohen admitted to paying Daniels, saying that the fee came out of his own pocket, and the
01:22following month Clifford filed a lawsuit claiming that the nondisclosure agreement she had signed
01:27with Cohen was void because Donald Trump never signed it. She then appeared on 60 Minutes
01:32with Anderson Cooper to detail the affair. In April, Daniels filed another lawsuit, this time for
01:37defamation, after Trump called the original lawsuit and allegations a total con job in a tweet.
01:41Trump has maintained that he was unaware Cohen's $130,000 payment was to keep Daniels silent,
01:47though he has said he repaid Cohen without knowing what the money was for. For her part,
01:51Daniels has said that the allegations she made about the now president in a 2011 interview with
01:55InTouch magazine resulted in her being threatened by an unknown man while in a Las Vegas
01:59parking lot with her daughter. She has shown a composite sketch of the alleged threatener,
02:03and she and Avenatti have offered $100,000 for anyone who can identify him.
