00:00Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House is returning for a second season.
00:11Well, sort of. As part of creator Mike Flanagan and executive producer Trevor Macy's new
00:16multi-year deal with Netflix, the streaming giant is turning The Haunting into an anthology series.
00:22Netflix made the announcement on Thursday that when the show returns in 2020,
00:25the Supernatural horror series will look vastly different from its hit first season,
00:30with a fresh coat of paint and a new name, The Haunting of Bly Manor.
00:34The first season drew inspiration from Shirley Jackson's famous The Haunting of Hill House novel.
00:39We're not like any other family. We're different because of where we grew up.
00:48Hill House.
00:48But The Haunting of Bly Manor takes on a different story altogether. Henry James' The Turn of the Screw.
00:54The 1898 novella depicts an Essex country house and a governess who has been hired to look after a pair of siblings.
01:01Her work gets severely complicated, though, by the apparent existence of several ghosts around the manor,
01:06as well as the grip they may hold over the children.
01:09Now, it remains to be seen whether the actors from the show's breakout first season will be returning
01:14in different roles, as we've seen in Ryan Murphy's signature horror franchise American Horror Story.
01:18But Flanagan does have a track record of working with the same actors across numerous projects.
01:23Your mother, she was not crazy.
01:29Neither was your sister, neither is your brother, neither are you.
