00:00You act like this doesn't even affect me.
00:03I know it does.
00:07Well, then that's a really selfish decision on your part.
00:10Jennifer Carpenter is coming back for the Dexter revival.
00:13Sources confirmed the actress's return to The Hollywood Reporter.
00:16Showtime declined to comment.
00:18Carpenter played Dexter Morgan's sister, Deb Morgan,
00:20for all eight seasons of the original Showtime series.
00:23The character was famously killed off in the 2013 series finale.
00:27Carpenter, who was adamant about wanting Deb to be killed off,
00:30left the door open to returning to Dexter
00:31when she spoke to THR following the series finale.
00:34She said at the time,
00:35it would take an extraordinary script many, many, many years from now.
00:39I don't know if that's possible because people don't come back from the dead.
00:43I thought maybe I was getting my dessert.
00:45What you deserve?
00:47Why would you think that?
00:49Carpenter isn't the only Dexter favorite to return from the dead
00:51as John Lithgow, who won an Emmy for his role as the Trinity Killer,
00:55is also coming back.
00:56Both Lithgow and Carpenter are expected to appear in flashback scenes,
01:00as the Dexter update has no plans of rewriting the show's original canon.
01:04Showtime's 10-episode revival is set 10 years after Dexter,
01:07played by Michael C. Hall, went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura.
01:10The character is now living under an assumed name in upstate New York,
01:13far from his original home in Miami.
01:15It's expected to debut in the fall on Showtime.
01:17Hey, Mr. Lindsey.
