00:00Whoopi Goldberg is among those calling out Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas for saying
00:04the court should reconsider past rulings. In a solo concurring opinion following the
00:10U.S. Supreme Court's decision Friday to strike down the 1973 case that legalized abortion
00:16nationwide, Thomas wrote that the same argument used to overturn the right to abortion could be
00:21used to overturn decisions granting rights to contraception, same-gender relationships,
00:26and same-gender marriage. Since then, a number of commentators, including Samuel L. Jackson,
00:31have pointed out that Thomas' opinion tellingly did not reference the court's ruling in Loving
00:35v. Virginia, which allowed for interracial marriages like the one between Thomas and his wife.
00:41Goldberg pondered on Monday's episode of The View on where the court would stop, saying
00:45what's next as Clarence Thomas is signaling? They would like to get rid of contraception.
00:49Do you understand, sir? No, because you don't have to use it. You better hope that they don't
00:54come for you, Clarence, and say you should not be married to your wife, who happens to be white.
00:58She also suggested that the court might want to revive the three-fifths clause,
01:02applying to enslaved people.
01:04We were not in the Constitution, either. We were not even people in the Constitution.
01:09You better hope that no one says you're not in the Constitution.
01:12You're back to being a quarter of a person, because that's not going to work, either.
