Transcript
00:00Congratulations on your Oscar win tonight.
00:03During your acceptance, you highlighted the producer, Charlize Theron,
00:10and mentioned that she had done something to further your art of the makeup for the movie.
00:17So I wonder if you can elaborate a little bit more on that.
00:21She has done something.
00:21Yes, well, there's so many things she had done because the movie one time it started to fall apart
00:33because one studio left, but she found a new founder and, you know, like a studio and right away,
00:41and she built back up the whole production, and that was great.
00:46And also, she's an amazing actress and the producer too, and she is so patient,
00:51and she went for it, you know, like this amazing actress.
00:55So that's what I meant.
00:58Yeah.
00:59And number 297 followed by 165.
01:05Hi.
01:06Hi.
01:07Here.
01:07Hi.
01:08I'm Toshio Ogata with the Asahi Shinnabu, which is a Japanese newspaper.
01:13I have two quick questions to Kazuhiro-san.
01:15Congratulations on your second award.
01:17And first of all, I'd like to ask about what, so you got the award two years ago, same award,
01:23and what kind of impact did the award two years ago make this second award?
01:32And secondly, yeah.
01:37And secondly, is your experience in Japan or Japanese heritage contributing to those two awards?
01:44Right.
01:46Okay.
01:48I guess what you meant was it's really actually since, because in 2012, I left the whole industry
01:57because I got sick of it.
02:00And then I came back because of Gary Oldman asked me to do it.
02:04And by doing that, you know, this is, this kind of a makeup job I wanted to do for a long
02:11time.
02:12So it really helped me to change my whole career and brought me so many great movies to me.
02:20So that was the biggest impact.
02:24And also there's so many actors who wanted to work with me, and that's a great thing too.
02:30And what was the, what was the second question?
02:36Oh, Japan.
02:37You know what?
02:38I'm sorry to say, but I, I left Japan and I became American because I got tired.
02:45I got tired of this, that culture, too submissive and then, you know, so hard to make a dream
02:52come true.
02:52So that's why I'm living here.
02:55Sorry.
02:55That's beautiful.
02:58That's beautiful.
02:59Okay.
02:59One 65 followed by number eight.
03:03Hi, my name is Andrew Beale.
03:04I'm a producer with NHK.
03:06This question is for Mr. Kazuhiro.
03:09Just to clarify something you said in your answer to the question before, does this mean
03:12that you are permanently out of retirement now?
03:15Do we have you back in the Hollywood industry?
03:18You know, retirement means you have enough money not to work at all.
03:22So, and I'm not that rich, so I have to keep working.
03:26And I love to do my fine art and also makeup job.
03:31So I love both.
03:33And so I just keep doing until I die.
03:37And number eight.
03:39Massive congratulations.
03:41It's amazing because I think makeup and hair styling is so important.
03:45But I always follow the movies.
03:46And the people, the actors are always sitting for a very, very, very long time sometimes
03:51to get the makeup and hair done.
03:53How hard was that for you guys?
03:56Because you do this every day for hours and hours.
04:00Well, I really will contribute Charlize as well for sitting very still to get all the stuff done.
04:06And we did a lot of double teaming.
04:09You know, we would work simultaneously at every point we could.
04:13We wanted to give Jay Roach the ability to get as many shots as he needed.
04:18And so our agenda was to be as precise and as perfect, not lose any finesse, and to get it done quickly.
04:27All right.
04:28Thank you very much.
04:29Congratulations.
