Sam Worthington talks about what fans can expect from the 'Avatar' sequel 'Avatar: The Way of Water'.
Transcript
00:00You got to show an extended look at Avatar The Way of Water to the crowd here today at D23.
00:05What was it like seeing their reaction?
00:07Well, it's weird because I wasn't looking at the reaction.
00:10I'm immersed in the scene.
00:12And the weird thing is, even though I know what's happening and I've done it,
00:15I still get carried away with it and it still touches me.
00:17So that's a good sign.
00:19Was it your first time seeing it here today?
00:21No, I've seen quite a lot. That's the weird thing.
00:23And I know what's going to happen in the story.
00:25But I still got swept away. It's great.
00:28What are you most excited for fans of the first film to see in the sequel that they've been waiting for for so long?
00:33Well, I think Avatar is like a dream.
00:35And I think it transported people and then reflected a bit of their own humanity back at them.
00:41And I think the great thing about what we've done is we're now allowed to share the next part of that dream.
00:46And you're hoping those feelings are going to come flooding back.
00:48So that's what I'm excited about.
00:50There are lots of young actors joining the cast this time around.
00:53What was it like working with them and seeing them go through such rigorous training
00:56to be a part of the Avatar world?
00:58Look, it's good. It's like a boot camp for them.
01:02And the great thing is they're all pretty grounded considering all what happens when the world turns 180.
01:08But the movie is about protecting your family.
01:10That's what it's about whether it's your immediate family or the family that you choose.
01:13That's what it's about.
01:15And I think we've all gone through COVID and you realize the importance of family
01:19and that that love is what is the nourishment of our time on this planet, I think.
01:23And Jake Sully says it. That's worth fighting for.
