Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is being praised for recently opening up about his battle with depression.

00:00Dwayne The Rock Johnson has bravely opened up about his struggles with depression.
00:04The actor spoke with The Express two months after a February 1 Instagram post in which
00:08he told of his mother's suicide attempt when he was just 15 years old.
00:12Johnson recalled the day that his mother tried to take her own life by walking into
00:16oncoming traffic in front of him. The actor wrote,
00:30Johnson told The Express about the toll that day has since taken on his psyche.
00:44Johnson decided to share his story after shooting a difficult scene for the upcoming season
00:49of his hit HBO series, Ballers. He wrote on Instagram,
00:52Not your typical scene on our comedy Ballers as I cracked a beer open toasting my character's
00:57brother William who committed suicide. Though he admitted that he didn't like how hard
01:01the scene was to shoot, he pointed out that it was a reminder that
01:04We've always got to do our best to really pay attention when people are in pain.
01:08Help them through it, get them talking about the struggle and remind them that they're not alone.
01:13We got lucky that day when I was 15 and that ain't always the case.
01:17That Instagram post has more than one million likes. Johnson was also lavish with praise from fans
01:22and some in Hollywood for opening up about his struggle.
01:25On Sunday night, Johnson took to Twitter to thank his followers for their support
01:28in a message accompanied by a story covering his comments.
