00:00It's a musical versus an action movie versus a horror film.

00:10There's about to be a sequel showdown at the U.S. box office this weekend,

00:13but it's looking like Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again will sing and dance its way to the top.

00:18A trio of sequels hit theaters nationwide, including the star-studded Mamma Mia! follow-up,

00:22The Equalizer 2 with Denzel Washington returning in the title role,

00:26and Blomhouse's latest micro-budgeted horror thriller unfriended the dark web.

00:31If pre-release tracking is correct, Mamma Mia! 2 should win The Weeknd with $30 to $35 million or more,

00:37thanks to female moviegoers. Universal is being more conservative, though,

00:41and suggesting a $27 million-plus debut.

00:44Many of the A-list stars who appeared in the first movie musical reprised their roles in the sequel,

00:48including Amanda Seyfried, Julie Walters, Christine Baranski, Dominic Cooper, Colin Firth,

00:54Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård, and, of course, Meryl Streep.

00:58While newcomers include Lily James and the icon herself, Cher.

01:02The story traverses time, with James playing a younger version of Streep's character Donna.

01:06As for the other sequels out this weekend, Sony's R-rated action movie The Equalizer 2

01:11is tracking to open to $25 million or more domestically.

01:14The first Equalizer quickly became a sleeper hit in late September 2014,

01:19after debuting to $34.1 million domestically.

01:22Marking the first series of Washington's career,

01:25Equalizer 2 follows his character as he thins off highly-trained assassins determined to end his own career and life.

01:31They're going to war with me.

01:32It's go time.

01:35And from Blumhouse, the horror-thriller unfriended Dark Web is projected to gross $6 million-plus in its U.S. debut,

01:42against a tiny production budget of just $1 million.

01:45The found-footage film follows a 20-something who finds a collection of hidden files on his new laptop.

01:50He soon realizes that the former owners of his computer will do anything to get the laptop back.
