Rainbow Promise — Rainbow Promise 1972 (USA, Psychedelic, Christian Rock)
This teenage band from Texas recorded in the early 1970s in Ohio on the Springfield MO label. The album took just one studio day to record and was sold only at the band's concerts. It features a good, laid-back Christian rock style, typical of the West Coast. Steve Powell later released a solo album.Consistent psych rock with lyrics about faith and Christianity. For some that may be an issue, to me nothing is more psychedelic than spirituality, so it enhances the vibe quite a bit. Rainbow Promise is a no brainer recommendation -- try Someone You Need, the fuzz is killer.it was recorded in Ohio, on a Springfield MO label or it was recorded in Flora at Crusade Records which was owned by Ray Harris, not totally sure. 2 pressings with different cover variations were made, and it was only sold at their concerts - i also understand that they recorded the whole album in just one day. the guitar work is pure psychedelic rock with lost of echo and feedback and nice rolling grooves that fit the lyrics, which are sung honestly, strongly and clearly. if you ask me this album is a beautiful message from some true believers and regardless of any faith that you might hold you can't help but be touched by the love. top stuff.
