Truth (LA) — Truth 1970 (USA, Psychedelic,Folk Rock)
The only album by the trio from Los Angeles, California.The band's self-titled album Truth (1970) is a rare and special release in the American psychedelic/folk rock scene, recently reissued by Sundazed Music.
Recorded in Los Angeles in 1970.
Originally released by People Records, a label founded by Motown producers (Mickey Stevenson, Clarence Paul, Leon Ware), it was a "psychedelic exception" to their soul and R&B-dominated catalog.
It combines catchy folk-rock with psychedelic elements, such as the use of the sitar, and strong vocal harmonies reminiscent of Jefferson Airplane.
"Thoughts": Characterized by sitar sounds.
"Walk a Mile In My Shoes": Cover by Joe South with a heavy rock sound.
"Lizzie": Described as an ode to a "psychopathic femme fatale" with intense screams.
The album featured members of the famed studio music group Wrecking Crew.
After its initial release, the band disbanded and the album remained in obscurity for decades.
Note: Do not confuse this with the Chicago band "Truth" (members of Them) who recorded "Of Them And Other Tales" around the same time.
