00:46The original Karate Kid movie starring Macchio as Daniel LaRusso was released in 1984 and was an unexpected hit.
00:53It spawned three sequels, with Macchio appearing in two of them and Hilary Swank starring in a 1994 outing.
01:00Sony revived the title in 2010 with a remake that saw Jaden Smith star as a kid who was mentored by a martial arts master played by Chan.
01:07The Karate Kid franchise has seen a resurgence over the past few years thanks to the popular YouTube-turned-Netflix series, Cobra Kai.
