The White House press secretary baselessly accused CNN of blaming the bomb threats on the president.
Transcript
00:00Following Tuesday's evacuation at CNN's New York office after a bomb was found in the mailroom,
00:04White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders released a statement Wednesday in which
00:09she denounced the terrorizing acts.
00:30An hour later, she took to Twitter to clarify that our condemnation of these despicable acts
00:37certainly includes threats made to CNN as well as current or former public servants.
00:41However, later on Wednesday, Sanders seemed to have an about-face after CNN President
00:45Jeff Zucker released a statement attacking the White House's anti-media rhetoric.
00:49Sanders shared Zucker's statement and said,
00:52On Thursday, she lashed out at the network again, saying,
00:59It's absolutely ridiculous for anyone in the media to suggest that her boss's rhetoric could be
01:04responsible for the bomb sent around to his detractors on Wednesday.
01:08Yesterday, the very first thing that the president did was come out and condemn the violence,
01:11Sanders said.
01:12The very first thing your network did was come out and accuse the president of being responsible for it.
01:17That is not okay. The first thing should have been to condemn the violence.
01:21Jim Sciuto, who co-ankered the bomb coverage with Poppy Harlow, immediately pushed back on what
01:25Sanders said.
01:26What the press secretary of the White House said there is not true, he said.
01:30That's not the first thing we did as this happened. We reported the news, in fact.
01:34And Poppy and I can attest to that because we were on the air live reporting the news as it happened.
