00:07We finally know when the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon will premiere.

00:11HBO has announced that the long-awaited series will debut on August 21st.

00:15House of the Dragon tells the story of House Targaryen

00:18and is set roughly 200 years before the events in Game of Thrones.

00:22Dreams didn't make us kings.

00:27Dragons did.

00:29The show stars Olivia Cooke, Emma Darcy, and Matt Smith, among others.

00:34The original Thrones series ran from 2011 to 2019

00:37and ranked as HBO's most popular program in its history

00:40and the most Emmy-winning primetime drama of all time.

00:43House of the Dragon comes from showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik.

00:47Sapochnik previously told the Hollywood Reporter of the new series,

00:50I think we were very respectful of what the original show is.

00:53It wasn't broken, so we're not going to reinvent the wheel.

00:56He continued, House of the Dragon has its own tone that will evolve and emerge over the course of the show.
