Transcript
00:00I didn't see you last night, but I knew you were there at the TV Academy headquarters.
00:04How are you holding up this weekend?
00:07It's thrilling. You know, it's great to be invited to participate in the festivities,
00:12to celebrate everything that everyone has made, and I feel really grateful to be included this year.
00:21Well, you're included in a lot of things. You're doing pretty brilliant work.
00:23I just saw you were in Venice, where your film got a huge standing ovation.
00:30Tell me how that was to experience.
00:32Well, to tell you the truth, because of the Lufthansa airline strike, my flight was canceled.
00:39So I was invited to go and was all ready to go, and then everything was canceled for me the day I was supposed to go.
00:47But I read all about it. I was thrilled for all of them.
00:50And the idea of just traveling across the world for two days and then having to race back,
00:58I'm kind of, in some ways, thankful that I could cheer them on from here.
01:03I'm so sorry about that. What a bummer. And I swear that you were there.
01:06Maybe I was just reading the positive reviews that you got, because you have some pretty crazy scenes I read in some of those reviews.
01:12Yeah, I loved what I got to do. And anything that Luca would want me to do, I'm there in a heartbeat.
01:19And I got to be reunited with Tim again.
01:22And it was thrilling to be a part of the piece.
01:26And it is really challenging, and I think people will hopefully really enjoy it.
01:30Now tell me about that, because when you guys shared the screen the last time, he was just breaking out.
01:36But your scene in Call Me By Your Name was one of the most profound scenes of the year that year.
01:44And he's really exploded since then.
01:47What has it been like for you to witness his ascent and then re-team with him on this next film, Bones and All?
01:52I'm just thrilled for him. He's so talented and so much fun to be with, so playful and so smart.
02:01He's really just like a lightning bolt to get to be around and to get to play with.
02:06And I hope there are many more opportunities for us to do so.
02:09I'm a huge fan of his, and I'm still hopeful that we'll get a chance to maybe get to explore those characters again in a sequel someday.
02:20Yeah, that was the rumor for a long time.
02:22Do you know, have there been any updates? Did Luca tell you anything?
02:25Not that I know of, no.
02:27But I'm still hopeful, because it was a world that we all enjoyed inhabiting so much.
02:32So getting to do it again would be a thrill.
02:35Well, Michael, you're here for Dope Sick this weekend.
02:37And I know that the producers of the Emmys have reached out to nominees to ask them to send thank yous in advance.
02:44Have you done that? What's your strategy?
02:46Oh, goodness. No strategy. Just sort of do what I'm told.
02:49Well, they gave us 350 characters to articulate in one way or another.
02:59All the people that we thought we might want to thank, because as these awards events go, sometimes people don't have that much time.
03:07So I scribble down as much as I could think of and send it on its way, and we'll see.
03:15Yeah.
03:16Well, good luck on Monday.
03:18I saw you got to catch up with Christopher McDonald last night.
03:21I know you have a lot of friends in the business, a lot of people you've worked with.
03:24It must be tough to think about all the other nominees, but is there anyone in particular you're rooting for?
03:28Oh, I'm rooting for everybody. Are you kidding?
03:30I mean, it's a big celebration for all of us, and it's fun really just to be here and to be singled out.
03:37I mean, there's so much content out there right now.
03:40I don't know how they would make a decision about this kind of thing.
03:43And I wish everyone could be celebrated, honestly, and that's sort of how I want to think about it, I guess.
03:48I love that attitude. We'll get in there and have a good time.
03:51It's such an honor to meet you.
