00:07The perfect couple actress who made her television acting debut in 2000 at just six years old spoke to The Cut in a cover story
00:14discussing some of the more bizarre aspects of growing up in the spotlight and some strange interactions she encountered when she was younger.
00:22In interviews at a young age, I remember journalists asking me, how are you avoiding becoming a tabloid girl?
00:27People would ask super inappropriate questions. I was in an interview as a child and somebody asked, how could you possibly have any friends?
00:34It's like, huh? Fanning added that she also has a lot of compassion for people who have been made into examples in young Hollywood,
00:41saying the tabloid phenomenon was also to blame.
00:44If society and the media hadn't played their part, who knows? I don't think that it's necessarily connected 100% to being in this business.
00:50There are other factors, too. I just didn't fall into it, and I don't know the exact reasons,
00:55except that my family is comprised of very nice, kind, protective people.
00:59The Twilight alum also credits her mother, Hannah Joy Arrington, for teaching her how to treat other people and also how to treat myself.
