00:00Now that Real Housewives of Orange County star Bronwyn Windham Burke has come out as lesbian,

00:06fans are wondering where her husband, Shawn Windham Burke, stands following her announcement.

00:11In a December 2, 2020 interview with GLAAD, Bronwyn proudly affirmed,

00:15"'I like women. I'm gay. I'm a member of the LGBTQIA plus community. I'm lesbian,

00:21and it has taken me 42 years to say that, but I'm so proud of where I am right now,

00:25and I'm so happy where I am.'"

00:27Despite being married to Shawn for over two decades and sharing seven — yes,

00:32seven — children together, Bronwyn said,

00:34"'I'm not attracted to men, and I never have been.'"

00:36She explained that hiding her sexuality has been a constant theme for her,

00:40but her sobriety helped her speak her truth. She continued,

00:43"'I knew I was attracted to women. I always have been. I got married very young,

00:47and I never thought about it. So to be 42, I'm just now starting to feel like I'm becoming

00:52the woman I was supposed to be.'"

00:54Coming out as gay but being in a heterosexual marriage may be confusing to some, but Bronwyn

00:59said she and Shawn are playing by their own rulebook, saying,

01:02"'Honestly, we are in uncharted territory. I don't have a role model for this. I don't

01:06have anyone to go to for answers. So right now, we're just doing our own way.'"

01:10Despite being in a heterosexual marriage for more than 20 years, however,

01:14her sexuality has been a part of her storyline since joining The Real Housewives of Orange County.

01:19On The Bravo show, the couple revealed that they often engage in threesomes, and Bronwyn and former

01:24co-star Tamra Judge raised eyebrows after fans saw them engage in a steamy makeout on the show.

01:29Bronwyn said to Glad,

01:31"'I had a scene with Tamra that everyone kind of talked about. When we were getting ready for the

01:35reunion, I was talking to a producer that I trust a lot — his name was James — and he said,

01:39"'How do you feel about this? Was it a drunken mistake, or is this a part of who you are?'

01:43And I said, "'This is who I am.'"

01:45Now that Bronwyn is finally comfortable to speak her truth, crediting her sobriety for accepting

01:50her sexuality, Sean appears to support his wife 100 percent. The dad wrote on his Instagram story,

01:56"'I love you, I'm proud of you, and I support you always.'"

01:59After renewing their vows on the show and Sean's heartfelt remark,

02:02it seems like these two are better than ever despite their unconventional relationship.

02:07Since coming out, Bronwyn and Sean Windham-Burke are making some adjustments to their lifestyle.

02:11Bronwyn explained that Sean is still her best friend,

02:14and they plan to stay married and raise their kids as a team. But she did reveal to Glad that

02:18they are sleeping in separate bedrooms and have given each other the okay to date.

02:22In fact, Bronwyn has a new woman in her life, and it sounds kind of serious. She said of the relationship,

02:28"'This sort of became something that I didn't want to hide anymore,

02:31and I didn't want to keep a secret anymore. I want to be able to go out to dinner with whoever

02:35I want without judgment. You know, as long as my husband was okay and the person I was dating

02:40was okay and knows everything. I didn't want to have to hide this anymore.'"

02:43Luckily, Bronwyn said that Sean has welcomed her new romance with open arms.

02:47He knows the girl I'm dating. Her name is Chris. I mean, we go to parties together. She came over

02:52the other night, hung out with the family, had dinner with us. I mean, it's only as weird as you

02:56make it. As for Sean, Bronwyn said he is free to date, but she did not share if he has already

03:01found a new lover. Additionally, she revealed Sean is considering taking a job opportunity in New York,

03:06where he could possibly blossom like his better half. We cannot wait to see what life has in store for them.
