I.Q. (1994) is a charming romantic comedy that tells the story of Catherine Boyd, a brilliant mathematician, and Ed Walters, a charming auto mechanic, who fall in love thanks to the meddling of Albert Einstein, Catherine's uncle.
Catherine is engaged to James Moreland, a pompous professor, but meets Ed at a garage where her car breaks down. Ed is immediately smitten, and Einstein, sensing Catherine's unhappiness, concocts a plan to make Ed appear intellectually compatible. With the help of Einstein's scientist friends, Ed pretends to be a brilliant physicist, impressing Catherine with his supposed work on cold fusion.
