00:11that Rudd will play a small-town teacher in the film,

00:14which is a continuation of the franchise

00:16that started with 1984's Ghostbusters.

00:25And spawned a 1989 sequel.

00:34The 2016 reboot won't factor into the new movie.

00:37The official Ghostbusters Twitter account posted a video

00:39of Rudd talking about his role in the project.

00:41I can't wait to join the cast this fall for Ghostbusters.

00:49In fact, I'm sliming myself right now.

00:51The new Ghostbusters centers on a single mom,

00:53played by Carrie Coon and her family,

00:55with Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace

00:57playing her children.

00:58The movie will go into production this fall

00:59with a planned release date of July 10th, 2020.

01:04since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer

01:07at Sundance.

01:08Thrilled he'll be joining this new chapter

01:10in the original Ghostbusters universe.

01:12Rudd, of course, is coming off his role

01:14as Ant-Man in Avengers Endgame,

01:16which heads back into theaters

01:17for a special re-release event this weekend.
