00:00I know you're a huge Swifty like I am, so I made you a little good luck present for the Golden
00:04Globes. No way! That's the best host! That's so nice! Thank you! It's time to roll out the red
00:12carpet for awards season. I'm Tiffany Taylor for The Hollywood Reporter here at the Beverly Hilton
00:17Hotel, and we're talking to Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser and the show's producers all about
00:22throwing Hollywood's biggest party. A few months ago, I asked you what you thought when you were
00:26first asked to host the show, and you gave me a really great answer that went a little viral.
00:30that you thought they made a great decision. Yes, that's right! That was you! Yeah, like I watched
00:35that clip and I'm like, who do you? Who is this girl? Whoa, Miss Confident! Did I have a Celsius
00:41before that interview? Yeah, I think I stand by that. Now that you're going into the show this
00:47weekend, how have you maintained that confident mindset? I keep in mind that nothing matters.
00:53That really does help me. My special is called Someday You'll Die, and it's like kind of about
00:57that of like just remember that like it doesn't matter. And so that takes away either like too
01:03much feeling like too big for my britches. Like I'm hosting the Golden Globes, and it also takes
01:07away the fear of it going horribly. So it allows me this freedom to just kind of like just have fun
01:12and kind of enjoy the moment because it's all we have. Glaser revealed that she's preparing for
01:16the Golden Globes on Sunday by testing out her material on audiences around town. I have,
01:21I think nine shows between now and Sunday because I want to keep testing out jokes and I want to keep
01:28getting the the monologue in the perfect place it can be. You know, not every host does that. I'm
01:34lucky enough to like be a comedian that can go and find these rehearsal spaces in front of a live
01:38audience. And I trust my audience members to not leak jokes or tell anyone like, and we have enough
01:43jokes that even if they do, I'll be like, okay. But you know, I it's been a really collaborative process.
01:47I go on stage and I just say, hey guys, do you mind if I run my set? And they're like,
01:51everyone's so excited. Like they feel like they're part of this interesting kind of secretive
01:55process because they are. And I just go, you know, if you laugh at a joke tonight and then you hear
02:01that same joke on Sunday night when you watch the Globes, you can literally be like, I told her to do
02:05that joke because you did. And so it's just felt like it's so fun. And so I bet and it's just the you can
02:12write a million jokes and you can be in there can be a room of writers being like, this is so funny. And then you
02:16take it on stage and it dies and you don't know why. So you really, I have to test them. And so
02:21that's what I'm doing this weekend. I love that. I think that's an amazing strategy. And I know you
02:25don't want to give too much away going into the show, but who's one person that can maybe expect
02:29you to roast them on Sunday? I think roasting. I don't know that I'm really roasting anyone like
02:37like really going after them, but I'm definitely hope like I can't not talk to Timothy Chalamet because
02:44he's just such a moment. I loved him in a complete unknown so much. Like I just want to give, I want
02:51to give him his flowers for that performance. I want to just be able to make it. I don't know if
02:55I'll be able to talk to him at the after party. So being on stage might be my only chance to be
02:58like, dude, you were so good in that. So if that gets, if the only way for me to say that is to tell
03:03a joke, I will then tell a joke because I have to let him know. It'll be, that'll be fun.
03:07The executive producers of the Golden Globes also spoke to THR about Glazer's preparation
03:11process and why it's going to result in a great show. Look, I'll say this and having done many,
03:17many award shows and working with many hosts, Nikki is determined and Nikki is really putting
03:23in the homework and that is what is going to make this night really successful right from the get
03:28go. She, she has tried out the material. She's doing four or five shows a night right now,
03:33testing to make sure that everything is responded, you know, properly. The Golden Globes are set to air
03:38live this Sunday on CBS at 5 p.m. Pacific, 8 p.m. Eastern. And they're also streaming on Paramount Plus
03:45for the Hollywood Reporter News. I'm Tiffany Taylor.
