00:04That's right, the actor is set to portray music legend Bob Dylan in an upcoming
00:08biopic from Ford vs. Ferrari director James Mangold. The biopic is set to be based on
00:13the book Dylan Goes Electric by Elijah Wald, which tracks the iconic singer-songwriter's
00:18switch from folk music to rock. Dylan will also be executive producing the feature
00:22alongside Mangold and Fox Searchlight, which has secured music rights for the film.
00:26As for Chalamet, the actor is already in for a busy year. He's currently in theaters
00:31with Greta Gerwig's Little Women and is set for Denis Villeneuve's Dune remake
00:35and Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch.
00:37Now Bob Dylan's upcoming biopic is the latest in a string of studio biopics
00:41about musical icons. Fox's Bohemian Rhapsody earned over $900 million at the global
00:47box office, with star Rami Malek earning the Oscar for his performance as frontman
00:51Freddie Mercury, while Taron Egerton earned a Golden Globe over the weekend for his
00:55role as Elton John in Paramount's Rocketman. In addition, there are a number of other
01:00music icon biopics in the works, such as that of Michael Jackson and an Elvis Presley
01:04film from Baz Luhrmann with Austin Butler attached to star as the king of rock and roll.
