00:00Those of us who are in the music industry know it's a team effort.
00:03You know, you may see a face in the front,
00:05but it's really a whole big group of people making everything happen.
00:09We really want this to be a very informed and open discussion.
00:12You know, the big majors or the more corporate companies want to come in and sign them,
00:19and that's awesome, again.
00:21That's why, no, that's why, though, those teams need to reflect that community.
00:27And everyone, in order to have the most success for everyone,
00:31for everyone involved, those artists,
00:33because we heard from the artists this morning on the Emerging Artist Panel,
00:37they don't feel, it's not all like sunshine and rainbows for them.
00:40Like they are having, they're struggling,
00:43and they don't necessarily feel supported,
00:46or they might feel discouraged from coming out
00:48because that might affect the career.
00:50So it's awesome that artists can connect directly with fans and blow up,
00:55but then when they get signed or when people start working with them,
00:57you know, they have to, the staff has to reflect that community.
01:03You know, trans communities are way behind
01:05in comparison to the gay and lesbian community, right?
01:08Like if we can look at where we are, we're about 40 years behind, right?
01:14And so how do we, as individuals who have power,
01:18how do we support those upcoming organizations, groups, artists, right?
01:24Like all of those, and how do we include that into our budgets,
01:28and how do we include that in supporting, you know,
01:30events that we do to raise funds and that kind of stuff.
01:35So I just wanted to like plant that seed and hopefully take it with you.
01:42Yeah, I just wanted to add,
01:44in terms of giving people opportunity in the workplace
01:46and diversifying the workplace,
01:48a lot of the times it comes in like a job description,
01:51a lot of the times you require these degrees,
01:53these years of experience,
01:55and all this stuff that trans people don't have.
01:58And so really thinking about how you're giving opportunities
02:00to black trans women,
02:02undocumented trans people,
02:04and just trans people of color,
02:06whether that be just like an internship to start,
02:08a paid one though, okay?
02:10Yeah.
02:11Yes.
02:11I'm really thinking about like how internally and in the process
02:15you're excluding people.
02:17And so I just wanted to raise that also.
02:19Thank you so much for saying that.
02:21If I may just add to that,
02:23you know,
02:23I feel like there is a,
02:25there's like a systemic racism in the culture of professionalism in business.
02:30So, you know,
02:32I want to encourage everybody to really listen to your point
02:34because that's incredibly important.
02:36So when you're reaching out to the community,
02:37like make sure that there's access there,
02:39that if the cover letter isn't available
02:41or the resume doesn't look how you think it should,
02:44that's not a true determining factor
02:47of whether or not they're capable of growing in that work
02:50or bringing something valuable to your business.
