'The Son' will once again be directed by Florian Zeller from an adaptation of his own acclaimed stage play.

00:00Vanessa Kirby is set to join The Sun, Florian Zeller's follow-up to his acclaimed directorial debut, The Father.

00:07Kirby, who starred in The Crown for its first two seasons, was recently nominated for an Academy Award for her work on Pieces of a Woman,

00:14and joins the new project alongside Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern, who were previously announced to star in the feature.

00:20The Sun, adapted once again by Zeller and Christopher Hampton from another one of Zeller's stage plays,

00:25which is part of a trilogy of family-focused stories, follows Peter, played by Jackman, as his busy life with new partner, Beth, played by Kirby,

00:32and their new baby is thrown into disarray when his ex-wife, Kate, played by Dern, turns up with their teenage son, Nicholas.

00:39Zeller spoke out about the new casting, saying,

00:41Meanwhile, Zeller's directorial debut, The Father, went on to become a critical success,

00:51earning both Oscars and BAFTAs for Best Adapted Screenplay and Lead Actor for Anthony Hopkins.
