00:00Concert ticket prices in the Philippines are drawing scrutiny as lawmakers question why fans are paying far more than in other countries.
00:09Senators are now pushing for measures to curb scalping and investigate organizers and online sellers profiting from the inflated costs.
00:19Our Luisa Erisbe reports.
00:23Senators raised their concerns on the questionable ballooning of concert tickets in the Philippines.
00:29During the Senate deliberations on the budget of the DTI, Sen. Rafi Toffa stressed that the supposed P90,000 ticket became P60,000 due to scalpers.
01:14Scalpers are hoarders buying bulks of tickets in its original price, but immediately sells it at a higher price online.
01:22Sen. Rafi Toffa wants DTI to investigate this kind of scheme.
01:27DTI's budget sponsor, Sen. Aimee Marcos, said she suggests that the memorandum of agreement must be signed by the DTI and the DICT.
01:59Sen. Rafi Toffa will also draft a bill to stop the scalping of concert tickets.
02:05However, Toffa raised another issue.
02:08This is the big difference in the prices of the tickets in the Philippines compared to the other countries.
02:15VIP concert ng Blackpink sa Korea ay 11,000 pesos.
02:20Iko-convert mo na ito sa pera natin.
02:23Pero bakit pagdang sa Pilipinas, 19,500 pesos ang SRP.
02:26Okay, BTS tickets noong April 2025, sa Indonesia, 14,000 ang halaga.
02:35Pero sa Pilipinas, 22,600.
02:38Ang halaga ng ticket nila doon para sa Coldplay ban was only 5,885 pesos.
02:46Pumunta ng Pilipinas, ginawang triple.
02:48DTI will look into the prices of the tickets and they will look into the organizers and official ticket sellers.
03:13Meanwhile, Sen. President Vicente Soto III will look into the alleged selling of abortion pills online.
03:21There are abortifacients openly sold on Facebook and illegal substances such as peyote sold on Shopee.
03:30May we ask that you pursue this vigorously.
03:34Vigorously, apagat ulit-ulitan lang tayo, every month ulit-ulitan lang tayo after the take-down.
03:39Sen. Ed asks the DTI to submit their measures to stop the illegal merchandise of products online.
