00:00Is Chris Pratt Hollywood's worst Chris? Some Twitter users seem to think so.
00:04Now, a few of the Avengers have assembled to defend their fellow actor amid the social media backlash.
00:09Avengers!
00:16Assemble.
00:17It all began on Twitter Sunday when Warrior Nun writer Amy Berg tweeted pictures of Chris Pratt,
00:22Chris Pine, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans captioned with the words,
00:25One has to go. A flood of responses singled out Pratt as the unlucky Chris.
00:29As the tweet went viral, many used his religion and alleged views on LGBTQ issues as well as his
00:34supposed conservative political beliefs to call out the actor. A practicing Christian, Pratt reportedly
00:39attends a church in Los Angeles that has links to the Hillsong megachurch, which was described by
00:44actress Ellen Page last year as, quote, infamously anti-LGBTQ. At the time, Pratt addressed Page's
00:50comments on social media, writing,
00:52It has recently been suggested that I belong to a church which hates a certain group of people
00:56and is infamously anti-LGBTQ. Nothing could be further from the truth. I go to a church that
01:02opens their doors to absolutely everyone. Pratt was also criticized for missing a Joe Biden campaign
01:07fundraiser in Hollywood attended by many of his Avengers co-stars, which sparked off speculation
01:11he was pro-Trump. The Twitter backlash escalated quickly, and by Tuesday night, Pratt's MCU co-stars,
01:17Zoe Saldana, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, and Jeremy Renner were among those that took to social
01:22media to defend Pratt. Downey Jr. wrote on Instagram,
01:25What a world, the sinless are casting stones at my brother Chris Pratt. A real Christian who lives
01:30by principle has never demonstrated anything but positivity and gratitude, and he just married
01:35into a family that makes space for civil discourse and, just plain fact, insists on service at the
01:40highest value. If you take issue with Chris, I've got a novel idea. Delete your social media accounts,
01:45sit with your own defects of character, work on them, then celebrate your humanness. Avengers cast
01:50member Jeremy Renner liked RDJ's post. Meanwhile, Pratt's Guardians of the Galaxy co-star,
01:55Zoe Saldana, tweeted a Tupac quote, writing,
01:58No matter how hard it gets, stick your chest out, keep your head up, and handle it. Tupac,
02:02you got this, Pratt, Pratt, Pratt. Your family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who's ever
02:07crossed paths with you knows your heart and your worth. And Ruffalo shared a personal testimonial
02:12of Pratt tweeting,
02:13You all, Pratt, Pratt, Pratt is as solid a man there is. I know him personally,
02:17and instead of casting aspersions, look at how he lives his life. He is just not overtly political
02:22as a rule. This is a distraction. Let's keep our eyes on the prize, friends. We are so close now.
02:27However, some social media users were quick to question the Avengers' support of Pratt.
02:31One popular tweet read,
02:33Where was this energy when Brie Larson was massively harassed for months just for advocating for
02:37diversity in the industry? And they all knew about it. Suddenly, Chris Pratt gets some criticism,
02:42and they all come to his defense? Pratt himself has yet to comment on the controversy.
