"What would be truly heroic is if Disney used its profits from 'Avengers' to pay all of its workers a middle-class wage, instead of paying its CEO Bob Iger $65.6 million," he tweeted.
Transcript
00:00So over the weekend, Avengers Endgame debuted with a record-breaking
00:04$1.2 billion worldwide launch and everyone was pretty impressed.
00:08Well, everyone except for maybe Bernie Sanders.
00:11On Monday, the presidential candidate and Democratic senator from Vermont
00:15said that the Walt Disney Company should use profits from their box office hit
00:19franchise Avengers to pay its employees, tweeting,
00:30Bob Iger $65.6 million, over 1,400 times as much as the average worker at Disney makes.
00:37Sanders also linked to a Bloomberg news story about the entertainment conglomerate
00:40stock rising after the film's opening.
00:43Now, the senator has regularly criticized Disney.
00:45Over the summer, he praised unionized Walt Disney World Resort workers after they got
00:49a $15 minimum wage in negotiations with the Hollywood giant.
00:53And Sanders isn't the only one calling on the company to shift some of their profits.
00:58Earlier this month, Roy Disney's granddaughter Abigail said that
01:01Bob Iger's compensation is insane.
01:03There's a point at which there's just too much going around the top of the system
01:06into this class of people who, I'm sorry this is radical, have too much money.
