00:06President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. says Zaldico's lawyer tried to blackmail him into stopping the
00:18cancellation of COS Passport. The Commission on Elections clears Senator Cheese Escudero
00:23and his top campaign donor, Lorenz Lubiano, of an alleged election offense.
00:28The ICI and DPWH recommend a new set of criminal and administrative complaints against several
00:34members of Congress. State auditors find two infrastructure projects by a company owned
00:40by Congressman Edwin Guardiola's brother to be overpriced and substandard. And a remastered
00:46Beatles anthology is coming with an all-new ninth episode featuring footage of the band members
00:51from the 1990s. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. claims a lawyer of Zaldico tried to blackmail
00:59him to prevent the cancellation of COS Passport.
01:01Inapitan po kami ng abogado ni Zaldico at nagtatangkang mag-blackmail na kung hindi po namin
01:10kakanselihin daw ang passport niya, hindi na raw siya maglalabas ng video. I do not
01:17negotiate with criminals.
In a statement to the media, COS lawyer,
01:34Ruy Rondain, says Marcos' claims were completely untrue. On Tuesday, November 25, Marcos dared
01:41COS to come home after he released another video accusing the President and his cousin,
01:46former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, of taking kickbacks from government projects.
01:51COS also claimed in his new video that the President's son, House Majority Leader
01:55Sandro Marcos, also inserted projects to the national budget. The Marcos family,
02:00Malacanang Endromualdez, denied these claims.
02:05The Commission on Elections clears Senator Cheese Escudero and his top campaign donor,
02:09Lorenz Lubiano, of an alleged election offense. Lubiano is the president of top government
02:15contractor, Center Waste Construction and Development Incorporated. He contributed 30 million
02:21pesos to Escudero's senatorial campaign in 2022. The decision by the Comelec's Political Finance
02:27and Affairs Department reads,
02:29This office concurs that Mr. Lubiano is not Center Waste and Center Waste is not Mr. Lubiano.
02:35The decision adds, Lubiano, in his personal capacity, didn't have any contract or subcontract
02:40with the Philippine government. For the Comelec, this means he did not violate the election law
02:45that prohibits government contractors from contributing to election campaigns.
02:49The motu proprio probe followed Rappler's report last August that Lubiano was Escudero's top
02:55campaign donor in the 2022 election cycle. Center Waste is based in Escudero's home province,
03:01Sorsogon. From 2021 to 2024, the company secured 5.16 billion pesos in flood control projects.
03:10The Independent Commission for Infrastructure and the Department of Public Works and Highways
03:15recommend the filing of a new set of criminal and administrative complaints against several
03:20so-called contractors. These are members of Congress or their relatives who own construction
03:25firms that obtain contracts from the DPWH. ICI Chairman Andres Reyes Jr. says,
03:31Members of Congress are barred from having a financial interest, directly or indirectly,
03:36in any government contract. Those named in the recommendations sent to the Office of the
03:41Ombudsman include the following individuals and the companies linked to them.
03:45Former ACO Bicol Rep. Zaldi Co, Construction Worker Solidarity Rep. Edwin Guardiola,
03:52Usuag Ilongo Rep. James Jojo Ang Jr., Pusong Pinoy Rep. Journey Nisay,
03:58Bulacan 2nd District Rep. Agustina Tina Pancho, Cagayan 3rd District Rep. Joseph Lara,
04:05Surigao del Norte 1st District Rep. Francisco Matugas, and Tarlac 3rd District Rep. Noel Rivera.
04:12The referral involves 1,300 infrastructure projects awarded from 2016 to 2024. Reyes adds,
04:20the officials listed appear to have violated the Code of Conduct for Government Officials
04:25and the Anti-Graft and Corruption Act. State auditors find two infrastructure projects by
04:32eGuardiola Construction to be overpriced and substandard. eGuardiola is a firm registered under
04:38the name of the brother of construction worker Solidarity Partilist Rep. Edwin Guardiola.
04:44The Commission on Audit affirms its two earlier decisions to disallow payments to the company
04:48and that the DPWH Davao City officials who authorized those payments should be held liable.
04:54This involves the company's work in two overpriced road rehabilitation projects in the city which were
05:00awarded in 2009. COA Region 11 Special Audit Team notes, the contractor violated the DPWH's planning
05:08standards when it failed to indicate measurements and landmarks in the plans. The COA on Bank orders
05:14the audit reports to be submitted to the Ombudsman to determine possible criminal charges against those
05:19involved. Congressman Edwin Guardiola himself is being investigated by the Ombudsman for anomalous DPWH contracts.
05:26A new episode of the Beatles Anthology documentary series shows superstardom's impact on band members
05:35Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. The original eight-part documentary was broadcast in
05:411995. It spanned the Beatles' gritty early days in Liverpool and Hamburg to the phenomenon of Beatlemania
05:48and global superstardom, even to the band's breakup in 1970. The remastered series, released 30 years later,
05:55comes with a ninth episode, including unseen 1990s footage of the band. Writer and director Oliver
06:01Murray says the new episode gives fans an opportunity to learn about the band from scratch with an
06:07understanding of who they were as people. He adds, quote, the reason that the Beatles' story still
06:13resonates is because it's 20th century folklore. Widely regarded as the biggest rock band in history,
06:19the Beatles included a fourth member, John Lennon, who was murdered in 1980.
